Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol

"Here’s a polished, balanced review you could post on Hotels.com: We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Fairmont La Hacienda. The resort is beautiful, everything felt brand new, and the facilities, rooms, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere were excellent. Every member of the staff was incredibly warm, welcoming, and eager to help, which made our stay very enjoyable. The only issue we experienced was at check-in, when our luggage took around 40 minutes to be delivered to our room. As the resort has only recently opened, some of the team seemed a little inexperienced, but they were always friendly and did their best to provide great service. One thing to keep in mind is that the surrounding area is very quiet, with very little to do within walking distance. We visited Sotogrande Marina, which is the main nearby attraction, but a return taxi cost us around €60."

"No blackout blinds or curtains in any of the bedrooms - unusual for Mediterranean- many places I’ve been to have shutters or blinds so if you are not a fan of bright bedrooms bring some sleeping blindfolds"

"We’ve just returned from the most wonderful two week stay at this beautiful villa… For 2 adults and 2 children the villa was so spacious and could have comfortably for another 4 people.We were lucky enough to be one of the first guests since the villa has been available and what a treat it has been. Pauline is a wonderful and warm host, able to help with queries before the booking and always available during our stay with some amazing local knowledge of the area, recommendations and even helping out with doctors when our youngest was poorly! The villa is perfect, with everything you could need and more. Clean and beautiful inside and out… the views are nothing short of breathtaking!! Watching the sunrise each morning was magical. The outdoor areas and large pool were fantastic, plenty of space and seating and sunbathing areas for all. The area is perfect, with the villa situated in a quiet neighbourhood on the hill with a lovely breeze. Yet such a short drive (less than ten minutes) from the towns with something for everyone, and minutes drive from the beach which the villa overlooks. We would highly recommend this villa, we will definitely be back!"

"We had a great 2 week stay at this beautiful villa. Great communication throughout. We were a group of 2 adults, 2 young children and 2 grandparents. The walk to the beach was a little far and uphill on the way back for the grandparents to manage but there were plenty of other beaches easily accessible within a few minutes. It’s a great location for accessing the Costa Del Sol, definitely need a car, but the views and facilities at the villa might mean you don’t want to leave at all!"

"Villa was lovely inside and out. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. Didn't use the pool table or TV. We paid extra to have the pool heated. We had great views of Gibraltar from the accommodation. We had to collect and return the keys from the offsite office which was fine but would have preferred a lockbox on site.There is also the frame to a building on the plot next door that looks like it's been started and forgotten. It ruined the view a bit when chilling by the pool but not the fault of the owners."

"Kevin and Myriam are a spectacular couple who hosted my parents and I during a visit to Sotogrande. They're incredibly friendly and helpful and gave excellent local recommendations including restaurants and taxi services. The apartment is flawless and an absolute pleasure to stay in. The pool, views, quality of the furnishings are all top notch. Would recommend to all and I'll absolutely be back one day."
Elegant Villa W/ Views Of The Mediterranean, Gibraltar, Beach & Sotogrande Port

"First time I’ve ever felt the need to do this but here goes:The check-in was seamless, all went as explained.Overall we had a good stay at the villa, the pool area is lovely, plenty of room for 9 of us.We did have some negatives, we had no air conditioning in 1 room upon arrival for 5 nights, the unit broke down which can’t be helped but why hasn’t it been checked before we arrived. The unit in another bedroom also stopped working but was fixed the next day. The pool filtration system also stopped working a couple of times. Again can’t be helped, on both occasions they reacted quickly to try and fix the issues.Unfortunately the cleanliness of the bedding, towels and tea cloths was quite dreadful. I travel quite extensively with work and I’ve never stayed in a villa or hotel where the linen was so smelly. Upon removal of the bedding the pillows and mattresses were very heavily stained and the pillows were smelly.We had to wash multiple loads of bedding and towels for them to be useable. Not what you would expect to have to do when you arrive on holiday in a villa which is beautiful and not exactly cheap to rent.The cleanliness of the villa was also questionable, the kids wear white socks and after walking around INSIDE the villa they were very dirty. The BBQ was filthy when we arrived, we had to spend quite a bit of time cleaning it before we could use it, as was some of the kitchen equipment.Also not enough sun beds and a few maintenance jobs needed."
