About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

The Reindeer A Frame with Hot tub and Sauna, Pet Friendly

The Reindeer Cabin is an A frame nestled on 2.47 acres of land in peaceful and quiet Christmas Valley. Privacy is yours on both the front and back deck. This cabin is perfect for 2 couples or a small family, there are 2 bedrooms, a loft and one full bathroom, hot tub and dog allowed with prior approval.
As you drive up the private road towards the cabin you will see the A frame tucked into the forest.
Up the stairs to the front porch you access the cabin through the front sliding door. The front porch has a propane BBQ, picnic table and shade umbrella.
When you enter the cabin, you immediately will feel at home in this unique mountain themed retreat. There is a cozy couch for watching TV or enjoying the gas fireplace. The dining room table will seat the family adjacent to the well-equipped kitchen, with cool retro looking appliances.
The main level also includes a full bath (shower), stacked washer dryer and bedroom with access to the back decks. Outside you will find a hot tub perfect to star gaze, and a standalone sauna. Since the property is on 2.7 acres, the entire mountainside is essentially yours to explore.
Upstairs there is a loft with a single bed and a AC unit for warm summer days. The second bedroom with private balcony is off the loft with a queen bed and a twin bunk bed (most suitable for children).

If you love to hike, mountain bike, go fishing or just sit and relax this is the perfect spot for you. There are nearby hiking trails, mountain bike trails and it is an easy drive to Hope Valley for further exploration. There is plenty of parking available for your vehicles and if you bring a boat.

Located in Christmas Valley, it is a short drive to the community of Meyers where you will find: The Holiday Market (fully stocked grocery store), The Getaway Cafe, Divided Sky (bar and food), Bob Dog’s Pizza, Freel Perk Cafe, and Sombreros. Just a fifteen to twenty minute drive down Pioneer Trail Will lead you directly to plenty of entertainment, shops in the Heavenly Village and the Nevada side casinos. The family friendly beaches of Lake Tahoe are located along Highway 89 as you head to Emerald Bay (a must see photo spot, but go early in the morning, it gets crowded).
The driveway is a steep uphill, in higher snow country and great tires and or chains required during snow season.

You can see the after effects of the historic Caldore Fire. THANKS TO THE Amazing firefighters stationed at the rear deck, the home was spared and the decks and yard were untouched.

When traveling to Tahoe in the winter be prepared for winter driving, possible road closures and delays in snow removal. You are booking a trip to the mountains so come prepared.
Our snow removal crews work every day, but we have no control over the county road snow plows that clear the roads.
4WD and or chains are always recommended. If you come in a small, low profile vehicle you may have difficulties.
Tahoe has experiences frequent power outages during snow, rain, wind events. We provide lanterns, but sometimes they disappear (or batteries vanish)

Well-maintained cool A frame with a remodeled kitchen and good working hot tub. Enjoyed the fenced in yard; good for our dog. Would stay there again!

The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It was in a nice quiet rural location where we could enjoy the peaceful mountainside and take our dog out on nature walks. Conveniently close to lots of pretty hikes to the lake and waterfalls. The mattresses weren’t super comfortable and the AC are portable units that have to go into a sliding door which was a little inconvenient. Would recommend!

Overall had a lovely stay. My only comment is that it took 2 full days to get the hot tub to temp - wish it would have been left at a better starting temp. Other than that, the cabin was perfect for us and our pets. Thanks.

We had a lovely toe and enjoyed it. The only real issue was the steepness of the private road in the snow and ice. Our car couldn’t make it.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay in this little hideaway right outside of South Lake Tahoe. Easy road access, a blazing gas fireplace, a new kitchen and clean hot shower all played a role in a wonderful time. Such a blessing to have our pup along for the family snowball fight right outside. Good times.

Rating Details: The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place could use some tlc. The slider is very hard to open, screen door doesn’t close. Dirty windows, ledges. In need of painting inside and out. Deck in need of repairs/paint. Feels very dark and dingy inside

Overall the property it self is great, especially if you're looking for the cabin/tahoe experience. However, what is not advertised and what was not communicated by the property management team was the driveway access. The driveway to the property is very steep and curved, and with a four wheel drive SUV and chains, I could not get up the driveway to the house due to about an inch plus of ice on the driveway. The property management team did not clear the driveway and we were forced to park at the bottom of the driveway in the street and carry all our belonging up to the house. After multiple attempts to communicate with the property management team they never sent anyone out to clear the driveway. I lost half day of my visit trying to get my car unstuck from the driveway. I would caution anyone who rents this house in the winter time.

My hubs, I, and our two ridgebacks absolutely loved this place! We have been coming to Tahoe for a decade to hike. We generally like to rent a different place for a new experience, but I think we found the ultimate adventure home, so we will be booking again next year if available. The gorgeous A-frame abuts the forest so you can relax in privacy. It is situated perfectly close to the Tahoe hikes, but also close to our favorite places near Kit Carson and Markleeville. Even though I always bring my dogs w me, I hate dog hair and normally end up cleaning the cabin upon arrival, but this place was spotless. The jacuzzi was super clean, and while we didn’t use it, the place also comes with a sauna. You can take a short walk into Meyers for food on a dirt trail that connects to a bike trail. You do not hear a peep from the neighbors, as the property is on 2 acres. I felt the previous reviews about the snow in the driveway and the stairs to the place were not fair. The reviews made it sound like you had summit a giant driveway and multiple staircases. Possibly if you are of advanced age or suffer from a severe disability, then the stairs or driveway would be problematic, but the reality is that Tahoe gets snow in winter and they had 600 ft this year. Occasionally there will be weather challenges in the mountains, but it should not be something to dissuade you from this incredible cabin. Loved LOVED this place! Thank you for hosting us!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved the location absolutely perfect, quiet area, but close to everything, hiking, boating, good restaurants. The house was ok but in need of some basic maintenance. 3 out of 4 of us got splinters due to the aging none painted rails. Also the advertising picture is deceiving since it was taken from the back of the home, it did not show 30 something stairs. The mattress on the main level had an odor that was slightly bothersome, in need of some baking soda to neutralize the odor. Sliding glass door was in need of a new track so opening, closing, locking was an issue, And finally it didn't really matter until the evening but we could not get regular TV to work and 2 out of 4 of us are fairly electronically techy. Would recommend with our knowledge of its downsides. It will help us know what questions to ask next time. We will most likely use the same company as they were very attentive and able to fix the two things we called about. They also recommended great pet friendly trails....

We chose this place because it was pet friendly and had a hot tub and sauna. It lived up to exactly that! We had a very relaxing stay and our dog loved it too! I recommend you ask ahead of time if the Wi-Fi, hot tub and sauna work. The DocuSign they require does not guarantee those amenities work and they don't offer any refunds if they don't. The Wi-Fi did not work while we were there and there were known issues about it when I reached management to get it fixed. The 24/7 management was quick to help and did get it working for short periods of time via remote troubleshooting on the phone but it didn't work consistently. I felt that the DocuSign from the management company (not the owner) was a bit excessive. It was littered with additional fees for just about everything. The DocuSign was 9 pages long of detailed rules for the guest and exceptions that released them of refunds (ie - amenities not working). It even puts liability on the guest if someone breaks into the house while you're there (which is what insurance is for). Unfortunately, these over the top short stay contracts are all too common with Vrbo and similar stays these days but is part of the deal I guess for a unique vacation rental. Other than the uncomfortable DocuSign that took some of the excitement away from our stay before we even showed up our stay at the cabin was very relaxing and exactly as advertised and we will definitely come back to see what it's like in the summer when all the snow is gone!
