"The Ayr Hotel is well placed in Kirkwall, close to the main ferry terminal, the bus station, and the main shopping street. We stayed in a detached block across the street with 12 apartments. Ours had a comfortable bedroom, good bathroom and a large sitting room with comfortable sofas. The kitchenette had a fridge, a hob and a microwave. . The restaurant was in the main building. Food was always quickly served and delicious."

"We were in The Shore room 14, not part of main property which was still great except for the staining from water damage on the ceiling directly over the head of the bed. "

"For the price this hotel was perfect. The room we were in had history too, the McCartney Room. The breakfast was self serve of good quality, the hotel is a little dated, but it’s been around a while."

"This is a wonderful old building with so many beautiful decorations within it. Even though we didn't have an ensuite, our private bathroom was huge with good shower water pressure. There are two lounge rooms available and when we brought back some takeaway food from the local Indian restaurant, the owner suggested that we ate it in the dining room, something we wouldn't have ask to do. The breakfast was good and we really enjoyed our stay here."
