Acadia Yurts offers visitors the most unique way to stay on Mount Desert Island. Seven fun, eco-friendly Yurts and two Tiny Houses will bring you as close to nature as camping, with all the amenities of home. Located on 5 acres of lovely wooded land, surrounded by Acadia National Park property, Acadia Yurts offer a peaceful retreat for your group (up to 4 guests per 24' Yurt, 6 guests for the 30' Yurt or 2 guests per Tiny House). Acadia Yurts is also ideal for large groups traveling with accommodations for up to 34 people on 1 site.

In addition to yurt or tiny house living, the Wellness Center at Acadia Yurts offers on-site yoga, an infrared sauna and a flotation tank, all available for extra charge. Prices available upon request.

A yurt is a tent-like circular fabric structure with a wood lattice frame that originated among the nomadic tribes in Asia. These permanent, colorful structures have thick canvas exterior walls that include reflective insulation and a high efficiency heat pump/AC unit so you can be comfortable during any season. Yurts are quickly becoming a new vacation experience that vacationers are enjoying throughout the US from cliff side views in California to ski lodges in Colorado. This is a memorable place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Acadia!

The yurt was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for cooking meals. The laundry shed had an abundance of games and books and other extras to check out and share (like camp chairs to view the sunrise on Cadillac Mtn.) The location was close enough to other restaurants, shops, etc. but remote enough to be away from traffic. Loved it!

The Dorr Mountain yurt was the perfect getaway spot that was close to Acadia National Park. The yurt was well stocked with easy access to additional items such as onsite laundry. The yurt was clean and comfortable for our family of four. Communication from the owner was great.

This was a perfect landing spot for our family’s first vacation with our 7-week-old. We were able to easily access Acadia National Park and the nearby downtown of Southwest Harbor was adorable. The yurt was clean, comfortable, and had everything you could dream of needing for a vacation stay. We even utilized the lobster pot one evening to steam our own fresh lobster thanks to great recommendation from the owners Aaron and Karen. A perfect stay!!

We had a great time staying at Acadia Yurts! Our yurt was immaculate when we arrived, cleaner than many hotel rooms. Lots of nice touches, such as a laundry basket, storage shelves and baskets, cleaning products, and even a little step stool in the bathroom for the kids. Convenient to Southwest Harbor but away from the crowds of Bar Harbor.

We loved our stay at Acadia Yurts! It was the most ideal spot for all the places we wanted to visit. A easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor and also very close to the quieter side of Acadia. The other reviews are true- the shower is amazing after a long day out hiking! We are already trying to get family to go and stay. Highly recommend just booking it!

Acadia Yurts is just what we needed to reset and relax before the business of the school year begins! This simple way of living in the most quaint town in Maine with water and mountains 5 minutes away had everything we needed. Karen and Aaron have quite the operation going and have inspired us to downsize in our own home and enjoy the little things more! The yurt was larger than expected and had all the amenities we could ask for, even beach towels! I cannot say enough amazing things about this magical spot in the woods. We will be back and am already recommending to friends! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

A yurt vacation is a bucket list item and if you’re going to do it, this is the place. Our hosts were the best and literally were available for anything we needed, even when we requested last minute flashlights so we could hike Cadillac Mountain in the dark to arrive a sunrise (another bucket list item and must do). The location was ideal for both enjoying Acadia and all it has to offer as well as proximity to all 3 harbors. Every recommendation they had for food and activities was spot on. Oh…and eat at Beal’s…best seafood on MDI. Thanks for a vacation to remember and we’ll definitely be back.

Aaron & Karen are awesome and know how to ensure guests are relaxed, comfortable, and taken care of! The yurt was a fantastic way to be "comfortably" close to nature, easy access to EVERYTHING Acadia offers, and all the little considerations were evident. The property is wonderful, the water pressure from every faucet/shower was AMAZING, and even the sound machine to ensure the birds didn't wake us too early was a lovely and useful surprise! HIGHLY RECOMMEND to any family traveling to the area that wants to "camp" without camping!

The hosts were accommodating and welcoming. The yurt was lovely for our family and desired activities. I can’t remember when I slept as well as this week. It’s about a 30 min drive to the national park visitors center, for anybody wondering. Also, just FYI, though the VRBO listing says two bedrooms, it is actually one bed next to a pull out couch. There is a three pane partition available to use a a screen between the couch and the bed. It was no big deal for us and our small child, but I wanted to mention that for others that may want to know. Overall a wonderful place.

Staying at the Acadia Yurts was one of the highlights of our trip to Acadia. The Yurts are spacious, clean, well designed, and came with literally everything we needed for our visit. The bed and couches were extremely comfortable. The yurts sit on a beautiful piece of forested property and made us feel very close to nature throughout our stay. We were even able to charge our EV overnight at an outdoor outlet on site. Karen and Aaron were extremely responsive to our questions before and during our stay and went above and beyond to make our trip perfect. During the first night of our stay, a major storm knocked out power to most of the greater Acadia / Mount Desert Island region and by 7 am they already had emergency breakfast/coffee, and a generator running in their wellness center, allowing their guests to start their day without a hitch. These Yurts are a no brainier if you are planning a trip to Acadia with a car. If you opportunity to book a Yurt here, consider yourself lucky!

My daughter and I usually camp when we come to MDI, but we wanted to try something different and also a bit warmer than a tent. Acadia Yurts went well beyond our expectation! The yurts are spacious, clean, super warm (and also offer AC when needed), and most of all fun. With a skylight above, you can see the trees and stars. The thick sides of the yurt provide greater protection than a tent, but still let you enjoy the sounds of the wind and rain. Karen and Aaron stock the yurt with all the basics you need to start your stay. And if you have something additional you need - you can check the community barn for other items (as well as laundry there too). There is communal fire pit, hammocks and grills for use and the entire place was peaceful and quiet during our stay. Acadia Yurts blow away any hotel options out there - particularly if you want to be close to nature. We had a blast and will definitely be back for another visit!
