The Qube Hotel Chiba
10/10 Excellent
"The room was much bigger than any other hotel room I stayed in during my trip, and I was lucky to have a corner room. Even though the hotel has an old-fashioned feel, almost like staying in a century-old building, the facilities and amenities are just as good as those offered by other hotel chains. The outdoor onsen bath was especially wonderful and a real highlight of my stay! Although the hotel is a little far from the city center, it is still within walking distance of many conveniences. There is a 7-Eleven right across the street, and plenty of good restaurants nearby. Tax-free shops, shopping mall, grocery stores, and AEON are also just a short walk away. While the area has a somewhat suburban feel, it is surrounded by everything you need for a comfortable stay. The staff is very friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel."

ROYAL PINES HOTEL CHIBA

APA Hotel Chiba Ekimae
8/10 Good
"Another really nice stay a really nice APA hotel. If the bathroom weren't so cramped and I'd gotten a 2nd proper pillow, I might have given the place 5 stars. Alas, 'twas not to be. **Positives: *Pretty darn close to Chiba Station, which is a surprisingly compact (and easy to navigate) station. *Ample nearby combini. * Bed was pretty comfortable. *Didn't have to pass by the front desk every time I came and left, which I'm learning to appreciate the value in. I don't like feeling 'watched.' *Plugged my Switch into the TV without any particular difficulty. *The room had a nice view of the station. *The mini-fridge kept stuff nice & cold. *The room was spacious enough for me to do my thing, eg. spraying fabric refresher on clothes and hanging them up to air out, making coffee, doing Fitness Boxing 3 on the Switch, etc. **Neutral: *Only occasionally did the AC feel like "one degree higher and it's too warm; one degree lower and it's too cold." For the most part, I didn't have to think about the AC, which is welcome. **Negatives: *Cramped shower, which is common at APA hotels. And I'm not particularly large..I don't think. *A 2nd ACTUAL pillow would be welcome. APA's 2nd pillows are all-too-often just so...flimsy."
