I hated the location as I came by Amtrak. It is almost two miles from downtown and on a highway that is anything but pedestrian friendly. The first day of my stay, there was almost no hot water and the management did not seem to notice that. They fixed it after I complained on the second day. For $240 a night (note-my downtown Washington DC hotel the night before my arrival in St. Albans was $150.), this hotel was not worth it!

Overall, this Holiday Inn Express provided an adequate place for an overnight stay. Positives were clean linens and bathroom, several decent warm breakfast options, and a pleasant check out experience. Detractors from our visit included an overworked, not particularly friendly person at the desk for check in, absolutely filthy floors everywhere (entryway, interior floors, elevator, room floor), and a broken waffle maker and coffee makers that worked and then didn't. When we travel, we always look for things to compliment, but the negatives above cause me to wonder if they really do not see the glaring deficiencies or are simply understaffed to correct them. Unfortunately options are limited in this part of Vermont, but we have decided that the next time we travel to Canada through Vermont we will stay in Burlington which offers more choices.

The staff seemed overworked; Barry Noth was great at check-in, but subsequent front desk staff had to do laundry etc. The toilet ran continuously while we were there. I reported it. It was nice to see games out in the sitting area, but the chess set was missing some pieces. The shower water was just lukewarm. The pool was closed for maintenance.

Upon arrival with my family at 645pm the facility did not have a room available despite the fact the room was booked online at Hotels.com. We were told housekeeping staff was limited all day and they were still working on cleaning rooms. We waited until 805pm to only find out that the room was still not available but the front desk clerk was willing to “bump” someone else reservation. Unfortunately I was not willing to do that to someone else so they would need to wait. We left the facility, and will not return. This is a reflection of poor management.

First room ac was broken. Had to change room. Second room ac worked but wires sticking out woukd have been dangerous for kids. Room price was 170 for July 3 and 50 for July 4. Breakfast scrambled eggs were burnt. I heel ripped off at the price given the poor quality

Bel hôtel bien situé avec un bon petit déjeuner, les chambres sont propres. Le seul bémol est que la chambre n’est pas nettoyé après une nuit, seulement si vous passez 3 nuits après la deuxième nuit la chambre sera faites. A la réception lorsque questionner sur ce sujet ont nous a répondu que c’était le standard de IHG cette pratique sans aucune autres explications.

No card access, or entry when parking in back of building. Although the clerks at checkout were pleasant, the one who checked us in was robotic and unfriendly (perhaps having a bad day, still not acceptable) Shower doesn't have spray pattern adjustments/settings and has weak pressure. There isn't ice on each floor. Other than that, it was an average hotel overall experience.

The room was clean, it seems as though the hotel has been newly renovated. The breakfast/lounge area was really nice/cozy and the breakfast wasn’t bad. Overall we had a great stay!!
