A perfect hotel!!

This hotel was spectacular! Very historic and authentic! All of the people working at the hotel were wonderful, it couldn’t have been cleaner, an absolutely perfect stay! Food was fresh, local and delicious! We LOVED it! Might be one of the most beautiful towns we have even been to!

The hotel is an elegant mix of traditional and modern with a convenient downtown location. Walkable to lake, restaurants, bike rental and shopping. Food— both breakfast and dinner—were excellent and served in the sun room/patio. For forst-timers, there could have been more explanation of amenities both inside and near the hotel. Service was friendly but not always consistent. Beds were hard; no air conditioning and surprisingly for a tiny rural town there was a lot of street noise— the combination made for less than ideal sleeping. Nevertheless a great stay and would definitely consider staying again!

Zur post was beautifully decorated and extremely clean. The staff was friendly. The view from our room was outstanding. It almost did not seem real. The hotel is right in the town square so close walking to everything. The included breakfast was not as good as what we had at some other locations but was still very good. Their coffee and cocoa were outstanding though. We would love the opportunity stay here again.

Unique and charming family-run hotel full of character. Because we went in the off-season and the hotel was not full, we were upgraded to an amazing room (403) with a corner balcony and a view over the town and the lake. Our room was modern but had traditional touches, such as handmade pillows in the local style. Breakfast buffet was filling, and service was kind and helpful. Conveniently located near the bus stop and cable car.

Quaint hotel In beautiful town!

Loved St Gilgen, the quaint Christmas Market which was right outside the door of Gasthof Zur Post and the hotel!! Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good restaurant. Nice change of pace from Vienna and Salzburg. Our room was huge and had a beautiful view of the town and the lake. Short walk to catch the ferry to visit St Wolfgang.
