A song should be composed for this delightful cottage.All aspects of our stay were excellent. AC worked wonderfully in high heat and humidity periods. When we thought we needed something we opened a cupboard or closet and there it was. My daily walk was from the cottage to the St Marys waterfront and back.

Mermaid paradise!

Super cute house! Loved the location, was able to take my dogs on a great walk and had room in the backyard for the them to relax. Contact with host was quick and prompt if needed. Had everything you may have needed for my fur babies which I appreciated so much.

Great Place to stay.

I really liked my stay at The Mermaid Cottage. Its well decorated. And is in close proximity to a few fun places for dinner, and shopping. St Marys was a fun quite town.

Nice getaway in an amazing area

Very nice small cottage to get away for a long weekend in a truly ideal setting. St Mary's is a place where time stopped and the natural beauty is amazing

Very cute cottage!

Thick cottage was the perfect size and much better than a hotel. Very close to everything. We enjoyed our stay. The only thing missing is a full length mirror. Still perfectly charming ❤️

Mermaid cottage

The cottage had a strong smell of cleaning solution. Even when we got home our bags smelled. When we got there the grass was tall leading the the door Fairly clean except the bathroom shower was not maintained. Did not appear clean around the floor and caulking. The shower was very small We don’t feel that it was price appropriate. There also added charges. Would not recommend this place to stay I did not take pictures. I am already home. We left early

We have stayed here several times and loved it just as much this visit! Close to everything . Neighborhood is quiet. Everything you need for comfortable getaway .

Perfect place to visit!

The Mermaid cottage was perfect for my stopping point on my way to Florida. Next time I plan to stay longer because the town of St Mary's was so wonderful and full of great shops and restaurants. I would also like to visit the Island. The owner was great and easy to get ahold of. Cottage was very comfortable, clean and peaceful.

Perfect Little Cottage

The Merry Mermaid Cottage was a cozy, quiet, well-equipped, and nicely decorated bungalow. The quiet neighborhood and the easy walk to the downtown area of St. Marys made for an enjoyable three day getaway. The owner - Barbara - was easy to contact, pleasant, and most accommodating. We would definitely stay again.

Get away from the rat race

The cottage and the whole town is just what the doctor ordered. The cottage is just beautifully decorated and the area is so quite. We fell in love with the town and the people. Wonderful responsive host and the is clean and minutes from the ferry. We will be back.

Cute and comfortable cottage

This is our 2nd visit with our dogs. It’s perfect for us and has a fenced yard. I highly recommend it for your visit to St. Mary’s. Barbara is a great host. She’s friendly and responds immediately to questions.

Home Away from Home

This was our first VRBO rental. I could not have been happier with the location and special attention I felt like we received. The owner went the extra mile to make sure I had all the things I requested, including fresh flowers in all the rooms for us. She accommodated every whim and I fell in LOVE with St. Mary’s!! Cute Cottage in Excellent Location in Saint Marys, Georgia

Mermaid Cottage is in an excellent location to walk Historic Saint Marys. It’s such a cute and charmingly decorated beachy cottage in a quiet neighborhood, and we instantly felt welcomed and at home. Barbara was excellent with her communication. She even personally called us to make sure the cottage was cleaned in time for our arrival, which we really appreciated since we almost missed our booked arrival date. What a special surprise the bottle of wine was for our Birthday celebration. We loved our historic tours with Molly on Cumberland Island and in Saint Marys.

Absolutely! Here's a longer version that keeps your tone and adds more detail without sounding too formal:---We had a wonderful stay at the Merry Mermaid Cottage in St. Marys, GA! The location couldn’t have been better—tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but still close to the waterfront, restaurants, and everything we wanted to explore in town. The house itself was comfortable and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that made it easy to settle in and relax. One of the things we loved most was that we could bring our pups along for the trip. Finding pet-friendly places that are truly *pet-friendly* can be tough, but this place nailed it. The fenced-in yard was perfect for them to run and play safely, and they were just as happy to be there as we were.The cottage had everything we needed—comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and cute beachy decor that added to the charm. That said, we do think the home could use a bit of a refresh. Some areas were showing signs of wear and could benefit from a deeper cleaning or light updates. Nothing major, but a few touch-ups here and there would really bring the place back to its full potential.All in all, it was a great stay. The location, pet-friendly yard, and relaxing atmosphere made it a memorable getaway for us and our furry family members. We'd absolutely consider staying again on our next trip to the area!

Fabulous

We have stayed in many places in St. Marys and this is now our new favourite. For the price, you won't get any better. Mermaid Cottage is very quirky, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We had 2 lovely weeks here and wouldn't hesitate to return. We actually tried to book again but the place is fully booked when we wanted to return next year! The only addition I could suggest would be a set of sharp knives and some drinking glasses - we found plenty of wine glasses but only 2 drinking glasses. However, this did not spoil our stay at all and is only a minor suggestion. Barbara was an attentive host and I am sure, if we had needed anything, she would have helped us out. We do hope we can return some time in the future.

This is SUCH a winner

Hello to all my fellow travel-in-comfort friends! Simply put, The Merry Mermaid experienced in person is even better than it is in the pictures - and I thought it was amazing and wonderful in the pictures. The neighborhood is all large lots with charming cottages. Very walk-able. The house itself is carefully renovated and decorated beautifully (without being overwhelming or crowded). I was traveling under a timeline - this was just an overnight stay. But, in the future, I will make this drive frequently. I intend to to plan my travels so I can stay at Merry Mermaid and enjoy exploring St Marys. I whole-heartedly say, if the size is right for you, and if the cottage/location appeals, then I recommend this without reservation. PS Barbara is delightful and very dedicated to making sure her guests have a great time!

Great location to downtown waterfront

We walked from the house to downtown which was nice. The house has a strong AC which you need most of the year in southern GA. They also provided cable TV that not everyone does anymore. I would upgrade the TV to a smart TV. TCL Roku TV is what we use in our STR's. I agree with the others about it being time to replace the mattress. Rain at night is noisy as there are metal window overhangs that the rain hits and makes it difficult to sleep. There are nice stainless appliances but no ice maker. The fenced yard is nice if you're bringing your pet. The front porch deck has a weak spot that will need to be addressed in the near future. The few issue we had could be easily fixed. It met all our needs and I would recommend the place.

Returning to childhood

The property is lovely. Perfect for a landing pad while exploring the area. The house is clean, well appointed and was quite relaxing. It is all you need for a weekend get away. We had no problems getting in, directions were spot on and everything was easy to find. St. Mary’s has not changed much in the last 40 years, and I love it even more.
