Perfect Location, just a few adjustments would make it all over amazing!

First of all, the location and layout of this townhouse are both wonderful! It is right on the beach and very close to a lot of great restaurants. The layout is perfect for a large family or mutli-family trip. However, the upkeep and cleaning of this location leaves some to be desired. We noticed the floors were not efficiently mopped, the outdoor shower was broken and not repaired, light fixtures had burnt out bulbs in dark bathrooms, the towels left fuzz all over after use, and overall the place just needs a few updates.

Excellent stay

The Captain's house was an excellent beach house rental for our family. Plenty of room, great accommodations and very clean and well kept. Would stay there again in the future.

Excellent Family Vacation!!

Loved our stay - right on the beach and within walking distance to great coffee / breakfast, candy shop, and the boardwalk! The pool was also great to have. Highlight recommend and our family can't wait to book again!

Family Vacation 2024

Booked this property for my family and me. Location was perfect and place itself is a gem compared to all other properties on the beach since so many are big condos. Arrival and check in was seamless. Place could use a bit updating but for a week on the beach not bad. Was a bunch of sand and stuff on floors so could be cleaned a little better by cleaning crew. Would def stay again if the property is available next year!

Great beach location!

My main goal was to be on the beach and this did not disappoint! Beautiful beach views and easy walk to a perfect sandy beach. The house was roomy for 6 of us. It was surface clean, but could use a “deep clean.” (Very dusty under the bed and behind the tv) The outdoor furniture is pretty old and could use some replacing. Overall, a great experience and we would stay there again.

Sunset retreat

It was a wonderful trip. Beautiful sunsets every evening, just steps from the beach. Small pool, but still nice to be able to lounge in to cool off if we wanted a break from the sand and saltwater.

Florida beach house

We loved the Captain Town House on Madeira Beach. The location on the beach was perfect. It was close to John’s Pass for shops and restaurants. The house was very comfortable and suited our family of 6 very well! Could use an upgrade to the patio furniture and living room furniture though.

We had an amazing time. Perfect location, beautiful sunsets. Our suggestion would be to make the path to the beach easier to access. It was a bit steep and my mom struggled a bit to get over it.

Beach getaway

Beautiful location and amazing sunsets! House worked well for our families. Space enough for us to congregate together but not feel on top of each other. Additional benefit of doing stairs between levels😀.

Beware, inside of the house is full of old , worn and broken furniture. Mattresses are in desperate need of replacing. A “pillow top” can’t fix the age of these mattresses. Management company responded quickly when we needed bug control. Gulf views and beach were spectacular. The softest sand on the west coast!

Christmas get away

The house was as-described and the location on the beach was great. A little disappointed in the cleanliness of the house. There was mold in the master shower which looked like it had been that way for awhile. Otherwise the house was reflective of the listing.

Family Vacation

We stayed for a week at the Captains Townhouse. There was 8 of us and a baby. We had plenty of room in the house and each couple had their own bedroom! The house was clean and was decorated nice. There was well stocked kitchen for cooking. It was sooo nice being right on the beach and the beach was super nice! Not overly crowded, beach was clean with soft sand and the water was clear and the ocean bottom was soft. Waling distance to John's Pass and a few stores and restaurants. We would definitely come again!

Family Vacation

Home was perfect for our family. We had two toddlers (1 1/2 and 10 months) so the little pool was perfect for the kids. Also had baby gates available to block the stairs which was a necessity. Neighbors in next unit we're very nice. Not awkward at all sharing the pool area. The rental agency was very easy to work with and helped obtain pack'n'plays for the kids along with a high chair. I would definitely book this place again.

Minor Maintenance Repairs

Second floor bathroom door doesn't lock. One dinning room chair is wobbely and screws underneath need tightening. Top three glass panels above sliding doors need cleaning. The place was clean and well stocked. We had a wonderful family vacation and would definitely return.

Fantastic Location!

Very much enjoyed the stay! First night we did see a roach, but, hey, it happens from time to time. It was no reflection of the home. Beach was just hundreds of steps - so easy when you are carrying canapoyes, umbrellas, chairs, coolers, etc. - this benefit alone sealed the deal for me! The Candy Kitchen literally right across the street! Great for kids (and adults) to indulge into some ice cream and sweets. The only complaint I have is the wifi and cell connection was extremely bad, however, it's vacation - but even on vactation, you need wifi with streaming services (Netflix). That's the ONLY thing I would improve on. Other than that, we would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend this unit to anyone - especially families with kids - AWESOME!!!

Wonderful private beach condo

We had an awesome time at the Captain's Townhouse. The inside has been recently remodeled very nicely. Beautiful hardwood floors throughout and nice up to date kitchen. There is plenty of room for 8 people. We enjoyed the private beach access and two balconies to relax on. The owners were thoughtful and responsive. There was a wasp nest outside on a bush and they had the forethought to have left some wasp spray under the kitchen sink. So when I called, they told me where it was since I offered to take care of them myself. They also had two fans specially brought in the unit per my request since we are fan sleepers.The sand dunes toward the beach were a great asset that gave us great privacy when enjoying the splash pools. We enjoyed it so much that we will rent there again. The one question I have for the owners is about the other units. Are they ready for rental? I would consider inviting other families down there to rent the other units while we are there another time.

Great Location But Disappointed on Cleanliness and Upkeep

When we opened our door to our rental, we found another couple was already staying there. The property manager asked us to take the unit next door which we did. We found lightbulbs burnt out, many outlets that didn’t work, a pool that wasn’t heated and had only 3 jets working. We found a very dirty open storage on bottom floor which did have chairs, etc. but was filthy and moldy. There was one broken lounge chair which was removed and out in the trash the day after I used it (property manager?) we asked for but never received kitchen towels. We found 4 “dead” chicken strips on a cookie sheet in the stove. The property manager did promptly send in someone to repair the lighting and outlets. The view was outstanding, and the location cannot be beat. However the queen beds mattress is in serious need of replacement.

Family Memories for a Lifetime

Madeira Beach is a family memory maker for us. We love staying in this location right on the beach. Charles was great at communication and got back to me promptly whenever I needed anything. A couple suggestions we had as a group would be, make sure the dryer vent is cleaning for each group, it wouldn't dry towels had to hang them. Also, we thought maybe having a few collapsible drying racks for swimsuits would be great in each bathroom. The upstairs bathroom located across from washer and dryer leaks all over the counter. One last suggestion would be to have seating on the master balcony like the other side does. This is a wonderful spot to enjoy coffee etc. We loved that this side had a full bed in the half bedroom upstairs. We love this place and will be back yearly as long as we don't outgrow it. We loved the chairs for the beach and the sand toys for the kiddos! Access to the beach is phenomenal!! A suggestion for the pool is to have it cleaned after every guest, it was full of sand but the kiddos loved it! This location is perfect for getting to Johns Pass, fun restaurants, coffee shop right down the way and the Ice Cream store right across the road!! We loved our stay!

Great with need for many improvements

Cleanliness was very poor. Soiled, stained cushions on both sides shows this has been this way for awhile for both inside and outside furniture. Arrival date had a leaky toilet, light bulbs missing in the bathroom fixtures. Dryer did not work the entire stay. Towels for 8 taken to the laundromat. Last day host provided replacement towels. Our luck the hot water heater went out. It was addressed immediately however. Wobbly stair case banister. Toddlers feet were black from lack of floor washing. Accumulated dust piles under furniture. Filthy rug in living area. Kitchen & bathroom counter tops had a wet cloth once over. Potholders provided with caked on food from who knows when. Did a complete counter top/table and cabinet front (gross food drippins) cloroxing for my family health safety BUT location was great. Just update and get a new cleaning company
