"The room was suitable for our short stay, however with such lovely expanse of grounds it was therefore unfortunate that the view from our room was a 12foot high brick wall. Despite there being no air conditioning the room had a patio door which once open cooled the room. Upon request the hotel provided a fridge for my elderly mothers insulin, unfortunately the fridge was faulty and froze the insulin which caused a unplanned medical issue. They were quick to provide another fridge which was needed for the replacement pen.
At 5pm I placed a bar food order for Gamon, egg and chips. I was informed food was served from 6pm which was not a problem. I needed to eat the food in my room so I asked if a call could be placed to my room when ready so I could come and get it. I never received a call so my food sat under heat lamps. It was 6.16pm when my food was brought to my room. The gammon was lovely, the fried eggs were over cooked, so no yolk, or the lamps could have dried them out, the chips were over cooked which I was unable to eat. If I wasn't so hungry I would have sent it back.
Despite all of this I would certainly recommend the Manor of Groves and stay there again but ask for a room with a view and be specific about my food requirements"
