The staff were great but the property could do with a bit of an upgrade. Shower nozzle was blocked and the shower gel was empty. That being said it was not expensive and we had good craic with Dougie and the other locals in the bar.

Inn is experiencing renovation. They’re adding a kitchen. Some of the rooms still need to be refurbished. Otherwise it was a very comfortable stay

Location is ideal and the rooms we got in the 'cottage' was spacious. Lady checking us in was also super helpful and kind. The rooms were super clean, but the decoration was a bit lacking, mirrors were in the floor rather than hung up, tv was on a rickety table etc.. the shower was great though we could have done with instructions as 'cold' on the dial was what made water hot!!! It was also a bit noisy outside at around 1/2am on the Friday probably from people leaving the restaurant/pub below. Comfy beds and ideal place to stay though! Breakfast was VERY basic, boxed cereal, yoghurt, toast and apples/oranges/bananas, but better than nothing!
It was really difficult to unlock and open the doors, the locks were loose and the door handles were coming off.
When we arrived and went into the bathroom there was a roll of toilet paper with poop on it. I went out to the hall and was able to find an open closet with toilet paper, but that was really gross to come into a room and see that.
The television in one of our rooms did not work.
The toilet in the other room would not flush.
There was two minutes of warm water in the shower before it went ice cold.
The sheets were clean, but the beds were very uncomfortable, you could feel every spring in it.
Overall impression is that this hotel is not maintained or cared for much. Floors were dirty, walls and windows dirty, bad smell overall even with windows open. Very disappointing.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Decor was in need of some attention but room was clean and warm

Better than camping perhaps
Stayed here one night between two other locations. Fair location in our holiday and aware it was cheaper than the rest of our trip but needs some updating. Not the standard we are used to at similar prices.

First night bath consistently dripping kept us awake both nights we stayed the rooms could do with a make over and the second night we could not get through the outer door
The Aberfoyle Inn is absolutely delightful. Great staff, lovely site. However, it was listed as a hotel in Stirling. It is not. Over 20 miles away. Do not be fooled by the listing on the internet.
The outside of the building looked dilapidated the whole of the upstairs smelt of cooking , the kettle flex had a warning on ,do not use failed , the whole place could with a clean

Did not check in, I did not feel comfortable staying there
If this is the type of hotels Expedia promotes. I would be scared to use Expedia again
Wet towels folded on bed!No cups, dirty towels, very noisy,no proper sheets on bed, very narrow and steep stairs to room,no hanging facilities in shower for towels/tolietries.
The Bar was quirky..... that is the most positive thing i can say. Under refurbishment but the main starcase in the hotel with its broken floor tiles, Fire address panel that is faulty and missing smoke alarms make this place an accident waiting to happen. Fire doors wedged open and that was before i even made it to the bedroom. The bathroom was tiny dated and quite frankly filthy. The bedroom appeared clean however the bedding if cleaned had certainly not been ironed. An expensive mistake that will never be repeated this place was abysmal. I did email my concerns to the hotel with no response, this indicates the level of customer care to expect
