Stunning, Large, Beautifully Decorated Home in Downtown Lodi with Spa Amenities

Welcome to the Sideways House, named for its gracious entrance located on the side of the home, and a nod to the iconic movie that put wine tasting on the map. This stately home was built in 1926 and is perfectly located on one of "old" Lodi's most desirable tree-lined streets, and arguably the best VRBO for easy walking distance to tasting rooms, restaurants, theaters, parks and downtown.
This gorgeous home has been recently redecorated and lovingly brought back to her original grandeur. There is a large living room with beautiful, original molding, hardwood floors and grand windows. Ample comfortable seating is provided and a flatscreen TV, and fireplace will help you feel right at home. The living room opens up into a fun bar area that also provides access to the outside eating area. The beautiful, large dining room seats 8. The kitchen is well equipped with new appliances. (The home can be stocked with groceries if so desired) A cute, sunny kitchen eating area welcomes you in and offers a wonderful view of the large yard, fish pond and bocce court.

There are four beautifully appointed bedrooms which accommodate up to eight guests. Fine linens, down comforters (Non down bedding may be requested), robes and comfortable beds await you. Each bedroom has a television, IHome alarm clock, luggage rack and at least two windows in each bedroom to let in the cool breeze or warm sunshine.

There are two well appointed bathrooms with plenty of towels and other comforts to make your stay perfect. The upstairs bathroom has a bath and shower, granite counter tops and glass tile accents. The downstairs bathroom has a huge shower with bench, a rain shower faucet and other faucet features,

A washer and dryer are available along with laundry pods.

The backyard is park like and tranquil with an outside eating area with BBQ and bocce court, beautiful landscaping and a fish pond. The backyard also shares access to Perfect Balance Day Spa's Hideaway for all your pampering needs. Discounts for spa treatments booked while staying at the Sideways House are available.

Best time ever!

Lisa has to be te best host of any vrbo we have ever stayed at! She has thoughtfu touches everythwere and the home is so beautiful and comfortable and was not missing a single thing. The kitchen is better stocked than my own! The location could not be better either; walking distance to many excellant restaurants and shops and a short drive to all the wineries! Thank you Lisa and we will definitely be back!

Amazing place and location

Came here for a get away with a group of friends who I've know for over 40 years, we each had our own comfortable room, there was so much great socializing space, the house is beautiful and the location is so great--quiet yet close to lots of restaurants etc. We were greeted with a homemade cake, strawberries and wine, and the kitchen is so well stocked with everything. The check in and out was super easy and smooth. Lodi is a lovely town. My friends and I all loved it!

Wonderful welcoming house

My family stayed for a long weekend. We love the location- being able to walk to the science museum, bookstore, restaurants, park were all amazing! There was a charger a block away where we were able to top off our car before heading home. The house itself is very comfortable and clearly a lot of thought and care have gone into making it welcoming for visitors. Our hostess, Lisa, was friendly & accommodating. We would absolutely stay here again & would recommend the house to anyone looking. To any parents: I forgot to grab a sound machine for my 4yo & while the house does creak there was little to no street noise & she slept through the night.

Sideways House in Lodi

Fabulous home, location, and host. Lisa was amazing and so accommodating with her recommendations, special touches and responses to our questions and requests. We had an amazing time celebrating a birthday in most part to this amazing home and it’s host, We definitely plan to revisit this property. It was my first VRBO experience and Lisa set a high bar for any other host we may encounter in the future through VRBO.

Easy to live in with family of 8 adults. Spacious and well appointed.

Beautiful home and neighborhood. We have an annual adult only family getaway and this home fit us perfectly! We used the large dining table, kitchen, bbq, living room and bar non stop. Having a nook off kitchen gave us extra space for a "snack table". The exclusive bar gave us space for all the drinks. Living room was comfortable and spacious AND had a gas fireplace - lovely. Bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms had all the amenities needed.

Amazing Wedding Weekend!

We were so happy with our stay in Lodi at this beautiful home. The decorations for the holidays welcomed us and the warmth of fresh strawberries, cake, and wine were also incredible! The home was just what we hoped for with my parents (92 years), my children (27 and 23 years), and my husband and I sleeping well and space to complete wedding preparations and pre-gatherings. My parents, son, and I also benefited from the delightful adjoining Spa close by. Thank you so much for providing the perfect gathering spot in Lodi! Best wishes!

The PERFECT place in Lodi

What an incredible place. This home has been one of our favorite VRBOs we’ve ever stayed at. Even though it was blazing hot (above triple digits) throughout the long weekend we were in town for a wedding, the AC performed really well each night fighting the heat. The beds were so cozy and the house was perfectly set up for our family of 5 (with three little ones). The house was also very very clean, well appointed (every little thing had been thought of for our stay), and the kitchen was great for meal prep and cooking. All of the little details for us as a family were so very much appreciated, and communication was a breeze and very thorough. This is THE place to stay in Lodi! It's perfectly situated and close to everything downtown while also being an easy drive to the local wineries. Loved our stay!

Retreat to Lodi

First of all, we cannot compliment our host enough on the simple and elegant luxuries she set up for our arrival!! From welcome goodies to flowers. We walked in feeling so welcomed and at home. The Sideways House is an incredible home filled with historical architectural elements; however, it has all modern upgrades that do not take away from its ambiance. All bedrooms are decorated beautifully and the beds themselves are very comfortable! Lastly, you can walk into town ~ only 4 to 5 blocks away! The Perfect Day Spa in the back of the property is another perk to staying here. You will not be disappointed!

Wonderful location with a thoughtful host

The house is beautiful. It has a wonderful location. The only drawback is that the backyard is the entrance to the day spa which means there is a lot of traffic and people walking through but the thoughtfulness of the host and the location and set up at the house, made it worth it.
