Public Footpath to Great Ayton Hugging the north bank of the River Leven this is the quickest walking route from Stokesley to Great Ayton so I assume it must be of great antiquity. I would have expected it to be more of a bridleway however but perhaps this route was just too boggy for horse and carts preferring a more southern route avoiding the river along the line of the modern A173.
