"We didn't pick this place ourselves, as our original booking cancelled two weeks before our trip, so Expedia picked this one for us. The place was very clean and neat, owner was very friendly and helpful. "I had a short connection - late evening to early morning. Staff was fine but restaurant closed at 9pm with no options for a light bite while transiting through on an overnight connection. "From the moment we arrived we were greeted by very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff members. Arriving in the hotel was an absolute wow moment that continued as we explored. The features were awesome and a history enthusiast’s dream. Our room was in the newer extension and was modern, comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed lunch and drinks in the Laird’s Bar, staffed by an enigmatic barman who made us feel welcomed many times! We also enjoyed a swim, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna in the spa. Breakfasts were great and probably one of the easiest breakfast experiences we have had over our years of hotel breakfasts. We had dinner in Blair’s Restaurant which was tasty and enjoyable with very attentive staff. I enjoyed some time reading in the beautiful garden on a very hot day while husband sat in the magnificent drawing room. Fabulous all round!"

"Great stay, great location (close to shops and sites). The only issue I had was that google took me to a different destination. My friend who lives there and went to pick me up had the same issue. So you'll have to walk / drive around for a bit, get confused, a bit lost... until you find it in a courtyard! It is literally across from Maggie's Grill (great food!). The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast wasn't bad but could improve a bit with healthier options like boil eggs, seeds, avocados, gluten free options but overall it was good."

"The hotel was comfortable and the staff when we checked in were helpful and nice. It was tipping with rain in the morning, so we ask the man on reception to call a taxi. I asked him 5 mins later how long it would be. He said five ten mins. After another 10mins I asked him if he could check on where it was. Turns out he never called for one and got quite argumentative about it. At this point he was being left in charge of the building, but only just being shown how the fire panel worked. Glad I was leaving at that point."
