"Very nice place to stay even if you are not a gambler. Very clean, quiet and great food. only down fall was the hot tub was not working at the time we were there. We would definitely go back and stay with them again."

"First off this is an older hotel but it's nonetheless quite nice and comfortable. It's in a good part of town, not far from a large grocery store (important if your making any hikes, treks in the nearby parks and trails as you can then make your own sandwiches and buy ample beverages for your journeys). The room was clean and HUGE with ample parking. The bed was comfortable and the bedding, especially the pillows were excellent. The town is great, a bit quaint but inviting. I saw there were two "old school" movie theaters in operation on the main drag which if I were staying longer I would have gone to... . Local people are approachable and friendly. Again, this is an older hotel but well kept and close to everything you could want at an affordable price."

"I loved my stay from start to finish!What a delightful, friendly and attentive host. She loves the land, the culture, history and spirit of the Cortez-Mesa Verde area. The property grounds are spiritual, warm and whimsical. Such a unique environment and I loved all of it. I stayed in the studio apartment below the main residence. It’s clean and spacious! Perfect for a single, couple, or small family. Parking was available right in the lower driveway, directly in front of the apartment. An a/c was available, but I didn’t need it in September as a ceiling fan did just fine. If you thrive on natural light, you might consider other onsite units as the Bears Den relies mostly on electrical lighting. It’s a long room and the two windows near the front are pretty small, one housing the a/c. I enjoyed my stay and loved chatting with the precious host! Highly recommended! Thank you!"

"What a lovely place to stay. Beautiful property with a close walking trail. Beautiful area. We enjoyed the space. Comfy beds and all you need for light cooking. There is some occasional highway noise but I had no trouble falling asleep. Great stay."

"The newer owners have been working on the property. The owner/ manager went out of her way to accommodate us, offering our choice between two rooms to better suit our needs. The rooms were clean and comfortable. If your looking for fancy, this may not be the place, but for a comfy, quiet stay, come on in."

"Lovely, spacious home! Off of the beaten path in the quiet solitude of the Canyon of the Ancients. We used it as a center station for riding to Durango, Mesa Verde, Telluride, and the 4 corners. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen large enough for any group. We had a large truck and trailer pulling 2 motorcycles and there was plenty of space for parking all of it.There’s a private back entrance into the canyon that goes right on to a trail. Wish I had more time to hike but it was a little too warm even into the evenings.Bruce was a great host and on top of communication. We had no issues while there but he checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay.Would definitely choose again if we come back to the area!"
