"The hotel is set in lovely grounds, and the reception staff were very welcoming and friendly on arrival. Room 1, was clean and well presented, however, the double bed was quite small for us we probably should have upgraded our room. While comfortable enough, some of the rooms could benefit from modernisation to bring them up to date. One thing worth noting is that the hotel has a lot of stairs and split-level areas.
We made use of the terrace area on our first day when the weather was nice. Unfortunately, it felt a little neglected and could do with some TLC. There were quite a few cobwebs, cushions were scattered around, and it lacked atmosphere. It felt as though chairs had simply been placed there without much thought given to creating an inviting space.
Our main reason for visiting was to use the spa facilities. The changing rooms were extremely hot as the air conditioning appeared to be broken. There was also maintenance work taking place, which created some noise while we were trying to relax by the swimming pool. At one point, condensation was dripping from the ceiling onto the indoor lounge area, making the spa feel rather stuffy.
The sauna and steam room were both enjoyable, and the hot tub was a pleasant temperature. There was visible soap scum aro around the edge, and it appeared unusually foamy. Breakfast offered a good selection of options, allowing us to choose exactly what we wanted. Everything was well presented and freshly cooked."
