Lake Champlain Waterfront: Year-round, Incredible Sunsets, Kayaks, Firepit & W/D
This loft-style lake house is located on a shale bluff on Hog Island in Swanton, Vermont and boasts absolutely phenomenal sunsets. It is designed for a relaxing, couples or single family vacation in a nature rich environment.
Open year-round, the house has a fireplace (propane), fire pit on the beach, great swimming water, 2 kayaks/lifejackets/paddles, Wifi (XFINITY Gig), washer/dryer, and air conditioning. It has hot water baseboard heating for year-round warmth.
The house was built in 2022 and has a queen-sized master bedroom, full bath, and a loft with two twin beds.
The kitchen has a large refrigerator, stove, microwave, and a dual function keurig (k-cup or drip).
The living room has a 75 inch SMART TV, 2x barrel chairs that swivel, and a comfortable couch with side-by-side recliners.
The waterfront deck has a grill, dining table and umbrella, and an outdoor loveseat and coffee table.
Linens/towels (beach and bath)/plates/glasses/coffee cups/Keurig (k-cups/drip dual function)/ground coffee/grill/ propane all included.
It's a great, relaxing location to take a swim or launch on a kayak site seeing cruise along the beautiful shoreline.
There is no dock (predominantly west winds) but the front yard offers plenty of space to park a boat and trailer.
There are two public boat launches nearby (West Swanton Boat Access .2 miles and Tabor Point Boat Ramp 4.2 miles).
In addition, the house is just steps from Hog Island Market where fishing equipment, bait, fishing license, ice, beer, wine, and groceries are all available.
Campbell's Bay Campground (~5mi) is also close by for Pontoon, Motor Boat, or Canoe rentals.
West Swanton Orchard (1mi) is a great stop for apples, soft ice cream and souvenirs.
Green Mountain Stables is directly across the road where visitors can watch the horses training or take riding lessons, and Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center is also just one mile away.
The house is centrally located within the best Pike, Bass and Walleye fishing grounds on the lake!
For those who want a bit more adventure, the Canadian border is just 4 miles north. There is a nice small, waterfront town with several great restaurants called Venice en Quebec just across the border. Montreal is also only one hour north so bring your passports.

The home, neighbors, and people of Vermont were nothing short of welcoming. Josie was a treat to work with. I highly recommend staying here when visiting the area.
Great spot right on the water include kayaks and canoe's for the family. Location is great for trips into Canada including Montreal and Parc Safari, also close to attractions like Burlington and Ausable Chasm. Plenty of places to eat in nearby St Albans. Perfect place for a family trip and host was excellent. Hopefully return someday!
Very clean with great attention to detail. Good location to hiking, biking and maple creeme’s. We also enjoyed the kayaks provided. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
This is our second time staying here and absolutely loved it just as much as the first. We took our kids this trip and the loft on top was perfect for them. Everything about the place was beautiful and well taken care of. Josie is also very quick to respond to messages. Will definitely be staying here again next visit!
It was a lovely place to stay and we enjoyed kayaking, biking and hiking the nearby wildlife park. Josie thought of everything and we really enjoyed a quite and peaceful long weekend. I would recommend it for a couple but it’s a pretty small place for kids
The location is quiet with beautiful views and sunsets. Great swimming and nice to have the kayaks too. House is very nice, clean and with everything you need. Josie was very easy to work with and contact when needed. Highly recommend!
This place is incredible. We are so grateful to Josie for providing such an amazing place. The best views, and so relaxing with all the creature comforts. We will definitely stay longer next time. Thank you for your hospitality. ~ Dan & Michelle
This is our second day at the house and once again we had a wonderful visit. House is clean well stocked for cooking, clean beds and bathroom and a classic A-frame style. Direct access off the back deck down to the water was key as we ice fished directly behind the house. I would recommend this property to anybody looking for getaway in northern Vermont..
We stayed for 2 nights in this beautiful home. It’s a peaceful neighborhood and views are stunning. Everything was nicely appointed, kitchen was fully stocked and lots of hot water!! Sheets in the bedroom were very soft and we slept great.
I would highly recommend a stay if you’re interested in a vacation on lake Champlain for a small group. The owner is very responsive and helpful. Great stay!!
The home was easy to find (with GPS) and check in was a breeze. It had everything we needed. We were looking for a place to relax which we found. It’s a bit of a drive to get anywhere but there isn’t any traffic so that wasn’t a problem.
This was the perfect place for a quick getaway to the Burlington Vermont area (Swanton). The cabin is nearly new and is very quaint. It has everything you need for your stay - a Keurig/coffee maker, a great selection of pots and pans, water in the frig, comfortable beds, a large TV, a beautiful deck and views from every window. I would highly recommend this cabin. Josie, the owner, was terrific with communication as well.
Beautiful property! Great view from the patio and living room windows of the lake. Cute home, very clean with all the necessities. Bed was comfortable, nice kitchen. We did not use the loft but it looked very nice too. Wish we had good for more than two night! Recommended!
My partner and I recently stayed here for the total solar eclipse. It was the perfect viewing spot - the lake is so peaceful and I loved that you can go right down to the beach from the deck. We got some incredible sunset views through the huge east-facing windows. Everything was super clean and well stocked -- there were enough dishes, pots, and pans to cook and bake, and the white noise machine was a big plus (we slept great!). We had a wonderful vacation here and would definitely stay again.
This was a great place for a couple’s weekend! The cottage is the perfect size for 2 with everything we needed to cook, stay cozy, and relax. Josie was communicative and took care to make sure the fire pit was stocked and ready when I requested it, even though it had still been in storage for the winter. Check in and out were easy and instructions in the cottage were easy to follow. Thanks for the wonderful weekend!
This cute A-Frame is just as pictured. The view is jaw-dropping. This part of the lake is often windy. Check-in/-out were both easy. The place is comfortable. Josie is super responsive and thoughtful. If it looks right to you, it is.
My family of four (adult children) found the property to have everything we could’ve needed. Beautiful view and sunsets. House was extremely clean, well stocked. Road The house is on is wonderful to bike on. Canadian border very close
Highly Recommend. Only comment- is that water doesn’t taste great so plan to buy or bring your own.
This little house has everything a couple or a couple with a young kid or 2 needs. The kitchen is well appointed, with good quality dishes, cookware, coffee and spices. The patio overlooking the lake is perfect for meals, or just hanging out. Watching the sun set over the water became nightly ritual. Missisquo wildlife refuge is 5 minutes away-nice trails, especially the Black Creek one. (Bug spray is at the house) St. Albans is 15 minutes away, with a few great restaurants, diners, interesting bakeries and shops. And the islands are nice to explore. Bring swimming shoes or sandals- the little beach at the house is flinty. Nice to swim from. Josie is a great host. Highly recommend.
The house was just right for our family of 4 with the teenagers staying in the loft for a week-long relaxing getaway. Vermont has been pummeled by rain, affecting the level of the lake everywhere, so unfortunately the beach was hard to access, but not impossible. Kayaks were great, and paddles/vests was easily accessible.
The owner was easy to reach. In fact at one point a smoke detector was beeping low battery and she came by to replace it within about 15 minutes!
We enjoyed restaurants in St. Albans, Burlington, a bakery/cafe in Alburgh and even Shaggy's snack shack in Swanton. The pizza shop in Swanton is also quite good. Sand Bar and Alburgh Dunes state parks were great swimming spots. Next time we would love to venture over the border into Montreal.
The house was perfect for my wife and I. Our stay was relaxing with short trips during the day and watching beautiful sunsets from the patio in the evening. Vermont has a wonderful vibe and we experienced it first hand while staying at bluff house.
