"I recently stayed at The Star Grand Sydney and had a mixed experience.
The room itself was well appointed, with really great lighting and easy-to-use controls, which I appreciated. However, the mattress felt very old and wasn’t particularly comfortable, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The room also looked like it could benefit from a proper deep clean, there were noticeable stains and some mould around the shower drains that detracted from the overall feel.
The property as a whole feels a bit tired, almost like it hasn’t been refreshed in quite some time. It gives the impression that maintenance and updates may not be a priority anymore. I was also surprised that there weren’t many food options directly within the casino area, which made dining less convenient than expected.
The biggest issue was the check-in process. I arrived around 2:30 pm and ended up waiting nearly an hour just to check in. Their systems seem very dated and the process was incredibly slow, which was frustrating after a long day of travel.
On a positive note, the valet staff and attendants were absolutely lovely & friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They were definitely a highlight of the stay.
Overall, while there are some nice aspects to the property, the slow check-in, ageing facilities, and cleanliness issues made the experience less enjoyable than it could have been."
