The property itself is lovely..1900's era charm.. beautiful location...the breakfast was good....the bed was lumpy and the room was stuffy..also the light in the hallway was on all night..not a conducive environment for sleeping. The portable fan in the room was very dirty and not enough linens. The floors were dirty....

The inn is absolutely beautiful. Loved the huge front porch with the resident yellow cat, the game/puzzle room, and all the antiques in the hallways. The breakfast that was included was delicious and the dining area is beautiful as well. I was surprised how cool the inn stayed without any air conditioning. The ceiling fan and open windows kept us comfortable all night, even on the 2nd floor in August! The only downside was the mattress in our room - it was extremely firm with not much padding. My daughter is a junior at WCU and I've stayed at several hotels in the area, but this was by far my favorite. I'll definitely be back!

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. For the building being over 100 years it is in great condition. Comfortable bed. Shower was a little tricky in the claw tub, so be careful. We did not eat at the Inn but that did have a nice small menu that looked good. Uber does work in the area, I advanced book my Uber and not last minute. Peaceful and quite. I would stay again.

The Balsam Mountain Inn was a most wonderful place to stay!! EVERY single staff member could not have been more helpful!! To sit on the porch and relax and look at the view was an experience all it's own....sooooo relaxing!! Coffee was a local brand and tasted amazing, along with the pastries. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the long, hot shower was refreshing. The Inn was close to restaurants downtown and just a shirt trip! You will not be disappointed! Please support this wonderful historic hotel!! It's NOT just a place to stay BUT an experience!! WE LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!! We will DEFINITELY be staying there again! Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable!!

It is an historic hotel deep in the mountains so it does not offer amenities that many hotels would like a pool. That’s not necessary as it offers such beauty and tranquility along with a great breakfast, cafe and a bar. Sit on the 100 footlong porch and rock yourself happy.

This is a Hotel from the early 20th century. It has wonderful character. It doesn't have AC but does not really need it due to being up in the mountains at about 3500 ft. a room fan and open window was more than adequate. We had small issue with a smoke detector battery getting low and the detector started chirping at 4 in the moring. They don't have over night staff so it was fixed in the morning while we were out and fixed by noon. They do have a weekend breakfast that was very good. All I would recommend this hotlel for comfort and atmosphere.

Balsam Mountain Inn

The owner made us feel welcome and went out of her way to ensure we had something to eat even though it was late. The rooms were wonderful; it was like stepping back in time, but they had modern comforts. Breakfast was amazing! I am looking forward to returning for a longer stay

This is a very historical inn that doesn’t have the most current amenities but is charming with an amazing staff. It’s truly more than just a place to stay, it’s an experience itself. Step back in time and visit this grand hotel as she once might have been. Breakfast was delicious. Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was beyond friendly and accommodating.
