We had an amazing time in Lake Tahoe and truly enjoyed our stay at David’s place. We will stay there again if it’s available next time we are in Tahoe. Great property manager, beautiful house, central location.
What an absolutely beautiful home! The owner, David, was very responsive and helpful in providing suggestions on restaurants and activities. It was an unusually hot week in Lake Tahoe and we didn’t realize the home didn’t have air conditioning, but with the windows open at night and a couple fans, it all worked out! The outdoor deck was perfect for bbq and family games. The nearby beaches, shopping and restaurants were great. We enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful, cozy, centrally located North Tahoe home.
This is a wonderful home! It's beautiful, cozy and in a great location. The bedrooms are spacious, and there are lots of open spaces great for visiting. The care given to building this home are so evident. Truly special.
We loved David’s house. It’s gorgeously rustic and welcoming. The kitchen was open and well equipped, and allowed multiple cooks to prepare food simultaneously while socializing with others nearby. There was ample space for everyone to spread out as well in the privacy of bedrooms/loft. A huge plus also is that the house is located really close to a network for park trails, so parts of our party enjoyed hikes with amazing views of the lake.
To top it all, David was very hospitable. When he learned that we were coffee lovers, he brought a grinder, beans and french press for us to use. He also shoveled the driveway early in the morning when it snowed and even shared his boot warmer with us after our skiing/snowboarding.
We are looking forward to returning and staying again in the future!

Misinformation in the Property Listing
Unfortunately there are many misleading or factually incorrect details in the listing that have led us to rate this property as we have. First, the listing states the property has a hot tub - it does not. The master bath has an outdated jacuzzi tub, not a hot tub (which we were relying on for a winter ski trip). The listing states that onsite parking would include a garage, but later caveats that certain areas of the house are not included in the rental. This includes a studio that is attached to the house, not separate, where a tenant currently lives. If there is going to be another person living in the SAME house, it should be fully disclosed, up front. The listing also states that wi-fi will be available in every room; when we first arrived the owner warned it could be spotty, but at best one person was able to get internet at a tim. We were forced to use hot spots and go out to coffee shops to get service. There are a number of other points we could mention about the house - notably that it is clearly not a rental property - the "main floor bedroom" had an old, worn-down and ripped bedspread and the owner's personal items, photographs, belongings in cabinets and open spaces. There were only 4 dining chairs despite the listing stating there were kitchen/dining accommodations for 7; we had to move broken chairs from the third floor to seat our party at the dinner table. The bathrooms had used bars of soap and nearly depleted shampoo - I wound up buying my own at CVS.

I want to make this my second home!
Words, and to an extent pictures, can't convey how beautiful this home truly is. If you appreciate good design and fine touches, this is the perfect retreat for bringing loved ones together.
The open floor plan is perfect for bringing everyone together for meals. The kitchen with its Viking range is a foodies playground. I thoroughly enjoyed making pancakes, bacon, and eggs on the griddle.
The decor really added to the ambience of being somewhere in the woods, yet home away from home. The fireplace(s) were perfect for keeping us toasty during the snowy stay. All of the amenities and made this place the equivalent of a luxury 5 star hotel suite.
Best of all, the home has toys to entertain three toddlers for the entire stay. Even a playhouse with slide inside!
David, the owner, also spend almost a whole day shoveling snow/ice out of the driveway when we were stuck.
One might complain about the lack of an up-to-date entertainment system (no blue-ray, HD big screen). But if you want a real retreat and some quality time with people, I can see the reasoning for staying low tech. Although he does have wifi.
The only real complaint I have is in how slippery that top stair to the loft is. Even though he warned us multiple times in person and in writing, I still managed to slip not once, but twice, even while holding the handrail. So seriously heed the words of caution.
Despite that, I look forward to a time in the future when I can return for another stay.
The home and David (builder/owner) were both amazing! Once we figured out that the downstairs bedroom in floor plan on listing was actually the office that was identified elsewhere as not part of rental we were able to comfortably fit myself and wife in master and baby in adjacent room with crib (owner had pack & play, toys, bath toys and indoor toddler slide for kids). Master has amazing bath with large tub and large glass shower with steam feature. Nanny in downstairs BR w/ensuite and 17 year old and 12 year old comfortable in amazing loft over kitchen/great room with built ins. Internet everywhere in Tahoe Vista is slow. We will be back to water plants... Thank you Dave for great restaurant suggestions as well. :)
The house is a comfortable place to spend our winter vacation in Lake Tahoe. It is clean and convenient to shopping and ski area. I believe that the view would be even better in summer. We still have some lake view on some clear winter days.
The owner is very helpful. We couldn't survive the biggest snowstorm of last two decades without his tips and help. overall, it is an great place to come back in the future.
Here are the Pros: it’s a beautifully designed home with incredible woodwork throughout the home. The Master bathroom has a lovely jacuzzi and steam shower. The Kitchen was well supplied and an Outdoor deck was a nice to have. The Washer and dryer were a plus too. We didn’t mind the No shoe rule as it helped to keep the house clean. David is extremely available via text message and seen throughout the property for immediate questions and needs.
The Cons: the Owner lives on the property though this is not in the listing. Though it may say this in the rental agreement, this should be mentioned on the listing when filtering for an entire place. The WiFi is acceptable for 1 person if you have video calls or want to stream. There are no curtains to keep out sunrise and house lights that are close by. We were asked to water the owners 5+ plants which we did, but weren’t told would be a responsibility of ours for a vacation rental until arrival.
Lastly, the living room was under furnished and not a space to use. Another couch and coffee table (as shown in the picture was not present) would make the room more usable.
In the end, we still had a lovely time. Though, the owner is on the property, it did not feel as private as we hoped, especially during COVID-19, and not as much a vacation home including a lot of nuances to maintain the property.
This home is Beautiful, great location with plenty to do in the area. We took David's recommendation on restaurants and hikes and were so happy we did.
Our family of 8 stayed (2 adult couples and 4 teenage kids) here for post Christmas getaway and it met all our needs. The 3 levels (3 bdrms, 3 ba, loft) provided sufficient privacy and room for everyone to be comfortable while the layout of the kitchen, living room, and dining room allows us common space to share and have create some fun memories. David personally greeted us and toured us through his home and provided good input on the area and tips for skiing and enjoying the Tahoe area - definitely a gracious host (also very easy to communicate with him during our stay as needed). This is a very beautiful home in a great location that accommodate our needs. Would definitely stay here again! Many thanks David for sharing your home with us and your hospitality.
If you like high end homes with a hint of log cabin you will love. Much of the interior nicely done with raw debarked pine. Great construction with a lot of use of local wood.
We had a great time at this beautiful Tahoe cabin style home. The pictures are accurate. Once there our preference was to primarily stay in, cook and play games with the kids/grand kids. It was a blessing to get the kids away from cable TV, video games and such. Our family spent hours playing table games which I would say the teenagers enjoyed as much or more than the adults. They talk about what a joy it was as do we. The kitchen is well appointed and stocked. David provided a great orientation to his home. I recommend this rental to anyone that appreciates and respects a well designed and clean place to stay.
Beautiful house and shows pride of ownership. We were a little surprised at the situation with the stairs as we had an older person with us. The main living areas are on second floor up a 10or 12 steps. But there are also bedrooms on this floor so She really only had to climb up or down when we left to go out. Not too bad.
One other comment - the house has gorgeous windows but lacks shades on a few. Would suggest adding curtains in the bedrooms. Overall nice place.
Perfect spot that was private yet so close to everything we wanted to do. The park just a few steps away was a great place to play soccer and baseball and the lake was just down the hill. David was very nice and communicated very well with us, even letting us know about a few local happenings when we were there.
We enjoyed our time in this beautiful home. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Beautiful woodwork, great kitchen with all the supplies we needed for cooking. The back deck is a wonderful place to sit and read or enjoy a meal. We will be back!
