"The room was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The amenities were fine. The check in was good. I had no complaints except when our TV went out and the internet was out we had no one to turn to to help us because no one was there to help. No staff on duty is a problem. A phone number in the rooms that you can call with a problem would be nice."
"Stayed here for a quick one night stay on way to the UP. Hotel located conveniently off the highway and near many gas stations and eating establishments. We checked in late at night and staff were friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean. Perfect for a quick drop in."
"We really enjoyed our stay! This was our first visit to Balsam Lake, and we'll definitely be back. The room was very comfortable, the bed was great, and the location was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful stay!"
"I have stayed at this hotel numerous times before. Always clean and quiet. Friendly staff. Beds could be a bit more firm, but all in all a great stay."
St. Croix River Home in the Heart of Taylors Falls
10/10 Excellent
"Rivertime was the perfect place for our family of 3 generations to gather for a few days. We used all 5 bedrooms (appreciated the extra a/c in the third floor bedroom) and every inch of the living space. The screened-in back porch was an unexpected delight. We ate our meals out there, played games, one of us slept out there one night and we just relaxed.I am a towel person and the ones here were great! The kitchen was beautifully equipped...I have never seen a coffee bean grinder in any other rental we have visited. There was nothing we needed that wasn't provided, along with welcome chocolates! The regular property manager was on vacation so we communicated directly with the owner of the property. She was responsive and helpful. This may seem like a small thing, but we really appreciated the extremely simple-to-use door lock. Put in the numbers (only 4!!) and the door unlocked. No extra buttons, nothing to push once you were in to disable an alarm. Again, we have been at other properties where we have accidentally set off an alarm more than once. This home is very well situated for access to Taylor's Falls main street; shops, restaurants and above all else, coffee! And a two minute drive takes you over the bridge to St Croix Falls, 2 state parks, more shops and restaurants and, yes, coffee. We would certainly come back if life allows!"
Historic Home in Taylors Falls w/ Patio & Fire Pit
10/10 Excellent
"Our group of 4 adults really enjoyed the character of this 1840's house which has been completely renovated but they've kept a lot of the character. We were in town to visit family in Forest Lake, which was about 20 min away.Very close to town so we walked to dinner and breakfast/coffee as well as the office in town to take a paddleboat tour of the river. The neighborhood has some wonderful historic homes in it.Very easy access into the house and plenty of parking.. Excellent instructions on how to enter the house and what to do when leaving after your stay.Only stayed 5 nights and it took us until day 2 to appreciate no tv in the house...but great wifi. This gave us an opportunity to sit back with a book or great conversation. We enjoyed the excellent books on the bookshelf in the living room (the owner HAS to be a librarian or at least a book lover!).All beds were comfy (1 1/2 baths). Each bathroom had plenty of towels. The upstairs bathroom (to share with the 2 bedrooms up there) was beautifully designed with a soaker tub and shower.I think the history of the Fox House (the 1st mayor and his family lived in it!) made us appreciate the house and the cute town of Taylors Falls even more. I'd definitely stay there again."
