Hosts are thoughtful, welcoming and have clearly put in a lot of time and effort to create and manage this fab little gite. Book it, you won't be disappointed."

"We enjoyed our stay. Valerie and Phillippe were gracious and helpful, including calling several restaurants for us when we arrived late our first day. It's a beautiful setting in a rural area west of Port en Bessin."

"Un grand gite super bien équipé, avec une déco et des chambres raffinées.Malgré la superficie, la maison est bien chauffée.Niveau équipement, rien à redire non plus, le lave-vaisselle est à hauteur pour être chargé plus facilement, il y a 2 fours pour réchauffer les toats apéro, la maison est lumineuse avec la belle vue et la grande verrière...Bref tout y est en fait même les sentiers autour pour randonner ou faire une sortie trail.Et que dire du calme et de la vue ? Le mot de la fin :...

"It was wonderful be in Normandy for the 80th Anniversary of D Day. It was great to be in a small town with all the necessary stores so close by and to experience a French Norman town during the Festival."

"The Chateau de Bellefontaine is beautiful, romantic and a treat. Our "room" was actually a very large bedroom and very large bathroom. We felt like royalty. The grounds are something you read of in old novels. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The on-site restaurant provided a delicious dinner at modest prices. The location is a quick walk into Bayeux (so no worrying about parking in town). We enjoyed our brief (2 night) stay very much and would look forward to staying again."

"This was a great cheap place to stay. The beds were comfortable, pillows were good. And the place was clean. Only dislike was the amount of people smoking in the halls and too.s and right outside our window! As non smokers this is really unpleasant. But in Europe it seems smoking is pretty common still."

Excellent, we would stay there again

"We stayed here for one night whilst visiting various locations in Normandy. What a lovely hotel. Such friendly, helpful staff. We had lunch which was lovely and breakfast was buffet style and plentiful. Rooms quite basic but clean ans tidy and it had everything that was required. "

Hotel Le Lion d'Or et restaurant la Table du Lion

"There are many things that are wonderful about the Hotel Le Lion d'Or, but I must first complement the staff. Everyone we met were so warm and friendly. We visited in January and the fire was always burning which was pleasant. The room was spacious with everything needed. The restaurant was outstanding and we highly recommend it. "

"The hotel staff made you feel at home and went out of the way to provide a great experience for us. On our last night we had to leave to catch a ferry before breakfast was scheduled to start and when the staff heard this without us asking us they arrange for a to go bag of food and coffee. When we came down the next morning we came to catch our cab. We had a nice breakfast for our long day trip. The stay was wonderful. "
