"Good hotel in the middle of town but needs a few bits of maintenance (e.g. leaking shower doors) and a few more members of staff.
The restaurant was good with reasonbably priced meals although the chef needs to tone down the use of olive oil on the fish dish as it was swimming in it, and also learn the difference between saignant and bien cuit as my saignant steak was almost trop cuit! The main issue was the breakfast as a party of 40 Dutch tourists decended on the restaurant before checking out at 0900. When the few other guests arrived there were no clean tables and no food left. Understandable but what was incredible was that the young wonan in charge of breakfast was on heer own and overwhelmed. To her credit, once I'd alerted the lone receptionist to this she came and pitched in, as did the guests, setting tables etc. but that was areal failur of management.
Why 5* then? Because it has potential and was perfect for our overnight stay with secure parking and (eventually) a great breakfast. If i'd been there for a week I'd probably have dropped it a star or two."
JULY PROMO 25% GITE CLOSE TO PUY DU FOU - PRIVATE POOL VENDEE WiF
10/10 Excellent
"We just spent 7 wonderful nights at "La Tuilerie du Paligny", and it completely met our expectations. Located right on the edge of the historic château grounds in the quiet Vendée countryside, this 17th-century stone farmhouse is the definition of French rustic charm. Surrounded by the peaceful Vendée bocage, the tranquil gardens and beautiful rosebeds provided a gorgeous, private backdrop for our week-long getaway. The Gite felt spacious, spotlessly clean, and deeply comfortable. The owner gave us a wonderfully warm, personal welcome and shared fantastic local recommendations for culture and sights around the region. Perfectly positioned for a quiet retreat while remaining close enough for great day trips - we took the dogs to "Plage de l'Aubraie", which they thoroughly enjoyed. We then went to "Les Sables-d'Olonne" to enjoy some delicious food at one of the many restaurants on the harbour front. This was all a relatively short drive away. If you want a relaxing, beautiful escape in the Pays de la Loire, look no further."
"Very nice hotel in central location. Restaurant is high quality with a good menu offering (oysters were excellent). Friendly staff. Bar closes early."
"We had a wonderful time at La Brionnière. The location is beautiful, lovely countryside away from it all. The gite is very well equipped and has everything you need, it was very homely. The highlight was the amazing pool which was big, very clean with plenty of sun loungers and seating and amazing views across the rolling fields beyond. Us incl. kids (4 and 6) loved it!Chris and Julie were so lovely, they made us feel at home and never tired of chatting to our very inquisitive 6 year old ;-)Puy du Fou is only half an hour drive away, we had an amazing time there as well. The various tree top climbing activities around the area were super fun too.We were very sad to leave at the end of our two week stay - the kids are already asking when we can go back.Merci beaucoup Chris & Julie et a bientôt!"
"This is a budget hotel that punches above its weight. The staff are welcoming, the rooms basic but clean, the location is not at all beautiful, but in a great location for those travelling on A roads and the restaurant attached to it is better than your average chain, the chef is good at what he does and the beer is rather lovely."
"Room ok for one night. Had an evening meal which was ok, the starter and pudding being the better options.
Breakfast was self serve but not much left so limited choice.
Room was comfy enough for one night."
