First, it is not boutique at all though it is in a castle. The room is fully modernized and does not give us any sense of living in a castle (We stayed in castle hotels in France and Italia previously). Second, the breakfast was served in 2-3 “courses”. We didn’t want cheese &meat and wanted an extra egg & piece of smoked salmon instead. They refused our request unless we pay for the switch. This was the first time we didn’t have enough for breakfast during our six week visit to Europe. Thun is beautiful and worth visiting.

Awesome place. You're staying in a castle! Great breakfast.Be sure to use the parking garage entrance if not, you'll be hauling your luggage up seven stories of midevil staircases.

The hosts were great . It’s about a 10 min walk from the train station to the castle parking lot elevator. The breakfast was excellent. There is AC which is nice during the summer. It’s a great location to explore the Berner Oberland region.Buy the half fare card and the Berner Oberland pass. We bought the 8 day pass and would plan our days according to the weather. We will stay there again!

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful place!

This hotel was the perfect spot to explore Thun. You’re literally at the castle, and the included breakfast in the courtyard was lovely. The staff was very friendly and attentive. There is air conditioning when it’s very hot which was nice for us because it was quite hot! Take the elevator up unless you want to arrive as haggard as we were. It’s close to the waterfront restaurants and bars, the beautiful old wooden bridge, and a nice little walk takes you over to the lake.

Horrible!!!! Just AWFUL. 1) The shower was dirty. See photos. 2) Staff opened the door to my room without my permisson WHILE I WAS NAKED. I did NOT ask her to bring me anything. She literally just opend my door to give me one of their price lists, then apologized once she saw that I was naked. 3) The falsely advertised air-conditioner does not work half the year. 4) Herbert, the manager, was extremely rude. We reserved the sauna for 8pm IN PERSON. Herbert marked us down for 8pm. We showed up for our reservation only for Herbert to tell us we never booked one, and that we were "lying" about booking one, when really he was just too proud to tell us that he made a mistake. 5) The bed is false advertising. It's not one double bed, its two twin beds pushed together. There is a wooden divide between the two, so forget about intimate moments or cuddling. Also extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. When we requested extra pillows to make the bed more comfortable, Herbert funkily brought up two pillows and told us thats all he was giving us, dont ask for more. Just an all-around nasty place. There was even one couple doing drugs on the property and choking his girlfriend's neck. 6) At check out, after I gave my criticism to Herbert in private as to not embarrass him, he stupidly made a false charge on our credit card for five dollars more than what I swiped and signed for. He gave me an invoice and a receipt, so this will be an easy win with Mastercard.

Panoramic view was great. The female staff particularly without white coat at reception was very rude. During checkout I asked for 2 glasses of water for which she charged CHF 8 without informing. It is really surprising as there is plenty of water which was wasted by keeping tap open 24/7.

This is a unique hotel located inside a 12th century castle, staff was very nice and restaurant inside the hotel was amazing, we had dinner with great views and delicious food, breakfast was complimentary and very nice, we loved the overall experience

100% worth a stay.

Hotel forms part of the castle and has the most incredible views. Lovely spa which I recommend for an hour after a busy day exploring. Great location for connections to the mountains. Lift access to the Old Town. Super friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Unique hotel that I would highly recommend.

O hotel é excelente. Destaque para o café da manhã que é surreal! Além das opções no buffet, disponibilizam um menu a parte para pedidos a la carte, com opções que até hoje nunca encontramos em café da manhã de hotéis. Diferente de muitos comentários que vimos de hóspedes, não nos ofereceram espumante quando chegamos e nem transfer para ida ou volta à estação de trem (mesmo pedindo). Não explicaram com antecedência sobre o acesso ao hotel através de elevador (subimos inúmeros degraus de uma escadaria imensa com malas sendo que seria desnecessário) e este foi o caminho indicado pelo Maps. O castelo só abre para visitação à tarde. Ficamos felizes que puderam ficar com nossas malas após o check-out para conhecermos a cidade. A cama: juntaram 2 camas de solteiro e ficou bem desconfortável. Chuveiro com cortina de plástico, bem desagradável por ficar encostando. Disponibilizaram água, chocolates, café e maçãs. Gostamos muito da estadia mas seria ainda melhor com alguns ajustes.

Lovely Stay

The hotel was very nice with great accommodations and staff were very helpful. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best I've had. Check in was a little confusing because there was nobody at reception when I arrived and entrance is the same as the restaurant right next to it without a clear sign, but I realized later that this was because it is a small shop and staff are taking on multiple roles throughout the day. However responses to any questions via email were answered very promptly even in the evening when I didn't expect an answer until the next day. The location is very nice with a great view but it is high up so be sure to ask the hotel for the best way to get there if coming from the train station.

Amazing location, the man in the evening was absolutely amazing!! He gave us direction and things too see, I wish we met him on arrival we wasted a whole morning wandering around, Because the female in the morning gave us no direction or map just said to come back later in the afternoon and your room will be ready. The female is the morning, not helpful at all.
