"Doune Braes is very close to the Callanish standing stones, which makes it a super convenient location if the stones are on your itinerary! Everyone working at Doune Braes was extremely kind and helpful and the food (I had dinner and breakfast) was delicious. It is not a fancy accommodation, but the rooms are clean, spacious, and safe. Highly recommended if you are visiting Lewis and want to see the Callanish stones, particularly at sunrise or sunset!"

Idyllically located bungalow, beautiful view 20 mls from Stornoway Isle of Lewis

Comfortable house in a lovely setting

"The house overlooks Loch Erisort in a beautiful, quiet setting. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortably furnished with a better equipped kitchen than is found in many rental properties. We found it a good location for visiting Stornoway, the west coast of Lewis, and Harris. The local area to the south and east is also worth exploring. We had a meal at the local hotel which was pleasant, but, we thought pretty expensive, so wouldn’t really recommend that. "

"Very clean, perfectly appointed small cottage in quiet location. Close to the highway for access to elsewhere on the island. Hosts were very helpful and responsive, including leaving us a welcome snack. They had a binder full of local activities/recommendations. The kitchen had all the amenities you could wish for. Our stay was so peaceful,.. "

"This is just an extraordinary place. Have some reluctance to represent it accurately, lest crowds descend and keep me from enjoying a repeat visit. Another aspect of any perspective I can offer is that I've little previous experience with this type of Internet rental. Yet I do suspect that the standard set here, by this owner, of clear, cordial communication and comprehensively thoughtful service, is quite rare indeed. So good luck to me--and to anyone else--hoping to have as good an experience elsewhere!"
