Great views from the Harris suite. The room was really lovely and spacious. We really liked the private decking area. The host was really friendly and helpful, and provided breakfast early so that we could check out early. Would have loved to have stayed longer.
Wonderful B&B house nestled high up the mountains for gorgeous Nelson Bay views. Delightful service with cooked to order breakfast and nice to chat with other guests about their trip plans. Home owners super friendly and helpful with travel recommendations! Also the outdoor spa tub was wonderful way to relax at the end of our long drive!
Besides the incredible views, the proprietors are the best thing about Parautane Lodge. They are warm and welcoming and really make you comfortable. If you want to escape city center, this is the place to stay!
Amazing! This is the best place to stay in nelson. The room is amazing, the view is fabulous... and of course the host family is a dream come true. Breakfast was also incredible. This is best experience I have ever had and I recommend staying here to everyone!
We stayed our first 2 nights in NZ and loved the location in the hills north of Nelson. The staff/family were so friendly we felt at home and relaxed. We enjoyed our stay so much we returned for the last night of our holiday!
Stayed one night on our way South.
The lodge was great. We arrived as it was getting dark and had a wonderful spa whilst watching the stars.
The lodge is modem and small and the rooms clean and spacious.
I would recommend it.
We had a simply awesome time at Parautane Lodge. Beautiful views, modern clean room, delicious breakfasts, fresh baked cookies at night and great hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We had a very comfortable 4 nights with spectacular views across Tasman bay to the Abel Tasman park. Set some 250 m high in the hills , Candace and family provide a warm welcome with good breakfasts . We would certainly visit again.
We spent just the one night and didn't really take advantage of all the amenities this motel had to offer. But a can say that the room was nice, our hosts were extremely friendly and the view was exceptional. They advertised a continental breakfast, but our host offered to make us anything we wanted (we had omelettes).
Epervesent host with full information regarding things to see, do and where to eat. A multi athlete with 2 young boys host Candice has a great perspective on the area. Spa pool in private grotto is a great place to soak and watch the stars at the end of the day. We stayed in the separate room above the main house. Private balcony and amazing views of the bay/ocean and the mountains around you.
Owners not present. Delegated responsibility to unexperienced but very willing to help staff. Had issues with checking in..Having +2000 hotel nights this is in my opinion not a 5-star accomodation. That requires more attention to details in all aspects. There is no outdoor pool as stated, just a jaccuzi.....
However, quiet, nice views and interesting discussions with other guests. Overpriced.
I wasn't sure about the lodge after driving up the narrow road but once arrived the views and the lodge itself made up for the nerve racking drive. It does get easier! Allan and Candace are wonderful hosts and made our stay very comfortable. We enjoyed Christmas morning breakfast with the family and relaxing on their beautiful deck.
The location was scary at first, since it involved driving uphill on dirt road for about 1.5 miles, at very slow speeds. This also made it very inconvenient to get to the town or local attractions. Abel Tasman National Park is a 1.5 hours drive, each way.
But my room was superb. Very nicely decorated, clean and spacious. Had heated floors in the bathroom, and a private balcony, but the view left a lot to be desired.
The included breakfast was excellent, which included hot prepared made to order eggs and Canadian bacon.
I used the hot tub one night, under a clear starry sky. The view from the deck in the mornings was great.
Overall a good experiencec, but a bit overpriced due to location and access.
It was a bit of a drive up to the hotel but worth it. This place is primarily a family's residence with three rooms available for lucky guests. Spectacular view from lovely, modern, immaculate room. Very pleasant hosts and staff. Great recommendations for restaurants (Hopwoods, in particular) and for hiking in the nearby national park.
We stayed for three nights and The lodge exceeded our expectations the room was a good size and cery clean and tidy as was the bathroom. The view from the lodge is simply stunning and we enjoyed an evening on the decking overlooking the sea with a glass of wine was truly relaxing. Breakfast was good with a nice choice of freshly cooked options as well as fruit yoghurt and cereal.
Accessed through a winding road like Alice in wonderland this takes you to a breathtaking view of the coast and a magical view of the night sky and the Milky Way. Facilities are very comfortable, heated bathroom floor was such a bonus and staff were attentive.
The lodge is approximately 10 minutes to the Nelson town centre and about three hour drive to Abel Tasman
The view is wonderful and the service is excellent! The breakfast is also very good. The host is hospitable and his kids are very lovely and friendly. My families enjoyed living there. :)
Facilities: Home away from home; Value: Fantastic; Service: Phenomenal; Cleanliness: Beautiful;
A seriously amazing B and B - room was cleaned every day, staff were always available and even provided cooking utensils when we wanted to stay in :-)
