"We had a lovely stay at Onn Nakatsugawa before hiking a few sections of the Nakasendo Way. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station and has several retaurants nearby. We enjoyed our meal of yakiniku and shabu shabu at Chicken House, which is right across the road. The rooms are very small but the onsen is great. The breakfast had a lot of variety and was delicious. It even had allergens marked clearly. We would definitely stay again."

"I was delighted to find the afternoon tea, coffee, snacks and draft beer lounge. Local bus stop right outside (although buses are infrequent in the area). Lovely onsen, great meals, relaxing vibe."

"There is daily pickup from kiso fukushima stations 1530 1630 n 1730 hrs n departure 1000. Facility looks great! I was wow-ed upon arrival. The room is very huge and spacious with full amenities. There is even a private onsen (1 time slot given) which is unique. The public onsen has booth indoor n outdoor. The dining experience is fantastic. You hace your own traditional Jap room. Food is very nice There is a dedicated stargazing platform qhich is great though i was there solo and not so conducive to stay long coz seemed scary lol. Hotel not very responsive "

"I've used this hotel many times for more than one week at a time, but they never greet me such as "Welcome back!" or "Thank you for using the hotel always." They are always too business like. I hope they are a bit more friendly. The hotel is very comfortable to stay though!"

"Nagataki is a compound of several "hundreds of years old" typical houses connected through walkable paths and integrated with nature. You can truly feel the "old" and "nature" vibe all across the property. The houses being old can get really cold during the winter even with the heaters turned on, so be prepared with warm layers and pajamas so you can have a pleasant night. You get your own private restroom and bathroom with a soaking tub along with all the amenities you might need. You can also use the public bath (separate women from men), which was a delight and the walk across the property was really invigorating. You also get yukatas you can wear on your room and around the property that makes the experience even better. When you book half board (which I highly encourage you do), you get breakfast and dinner (kaiseki style) served directly on your 'old house / room', and the food is 5 star Michelin grade, honestly the best food we ever had in all our 3 weeks in japan!!! You have to try it!!! And they cook using local ingredients <3 The service was incredible, Masaya was very attentive to our needs and gave us really good advice for the Nakasendo Trail and how to move around the towns and back. They also offer a shuttle service from and to the Nakatsugawa station (I suggest you contact them prior to arrival to schedule the pick up, otherwise there are plenty of taxis outside the station at a very reasonable price so either way works). Highly recommend this Ryokan! "

"Perhaps be more flexible on check in time. It was drizzling n cold. We arrived at 14.10 but were not able to chk in as the staff said the room was not ready. Otherwise everything was perfect n highly recommend"
