Cozy remote cabin on beautiful Lake Nantahala providing breathtaking lake and Smoky Mountain views from just about every room in the house. It offers the best of nature perched 3550ft high in the Nantahala Natl Forest surrounded by miles of hiking trails, waterfalls and access to one of the country’s most pristine lakes. Whether you’re seeking adventure or you want to escape the hustle of everyday life, our retreat is a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, a nature seekers retreat.
Nature Seekers Retreat is a 3 story cabin that has a bedroom and bathroom on each floor, making it ideal for guests who want to retreat to their private space during their stay. On the main floor, we have a modern yet cozy rustic vibe. Enjoy the large open floor plan with floor to ceiling windows and 2 sets of French doors extending to the wrap around porch offering stunning lake and mountain views from the living room, dining room and kitchen. Grab a glass of wine, watch a movie, play a board game or just relax and unwind by the gas fireplace.
The kitchen has a large island and modern appliances including a dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. We also provide you with all the dishes and utensils you'll need to cook your favorite meal while enjoying the spectacular views. A gas grill is available for use and propane is provided.
On the main floor there is a large full bath and Bedroom 1 with a king bed, walk in closet and Roku TV. On the top floor you'll find a little reading nook and Bedroom 2 with a queen bed, en-suite bath, walk in closet, Roku TV and DVD player. The views from this level are the best in the house! Downstairs you will find another living area with a couch, smart TV and cabinet filled with lots of fun games. Keep going and you will find Bedroom 3 with a king bed, TV with Amazon Fire Stick and en-suite bath.
***Other things to note
There is a hot tub on site but it is not for guests use at this time. I have never offered it to guests, therefore the nightly price is reflective of that. I do not want anyone to think that they are not receiving the same amenities offered to all guests. For your safety, please do not tamper with the hot tub or you will forfeit your security deposit.
There is Wi-Fi, but know that sometimes service in the area can be spotty and cannot be guaranteed. Recently, the service was temporarily disrupted for a few hours for repairs during a guest's stay and I received a 4-star review despite this warning.
Cell service is very limited at the cabin, so you may want to set up Wi-Fi calling before you arrive. We also have a land line with free US long distance calling for you to use during your stay.
We do not have cable. All of the TVs (5) have either Roku or Amazon Fire Stick with free Hulu. Netflix is available for you to use your own login. If you are not familiar with Roku, it offers access to some live TV and a huge selection of popular shows and movies. We also have 2 DVD players and a good selection of movies for you to enjoy, or feel free to bring your own.
Access to our cabin can be tricky for some who are not used to driving on steep mountain roads. You do not need 4WD. As you enter the neighborhood, put your car in the lowest gear, stick to 10 mph speed limit and stay to the outside of the curves for 1 mile. The first part of the drive on Rhododendron Drive is paved and steep but then switches to gravel for most of the way up the mountain. It is a one-way road with space to pull over for oncoming cars.
We are considered rural by modern day standards and are 30 minutes away from any grocery stores or restaurants with the exception of the Lakes End Restaurant. Lakes End offers a good selection of great food and is less than 2 miles away (open from May to October).
