Hotel is quite old but still comfortable enough. Good location , close to JR bus stop and lake ferry.
Onsen was very busy but big enough to cater for everyone. Outdoor onsen was not too hot which was good. Big hotel, lots of tour groups. I am an individual traveller.
Furnishing are old but has it's charm. Room was spacious Japanese style with wide windows, view of pretty autumn foliage below. Regret unable to try the outdoor onsen, too cold. Courteous staff. Enjoyed the peaceful environment.
One feature of the hotel I truly enjoyed was the historical and cultural artwork on display. My room was sizable. The onsen is amazing. The hotel is close to the small town. The staff could be friendlier and have a more positive attitude. The food was very reasonably priced. However you got what you paid for. Cafeteria style food in a cafeteria setting. Many items seemed frozen or canned. Stay here, enjoy the onsen and eat elsewhere .
This is an amazing peaceful place. Just perfect for calming minds and taking care of your body in local thermal water.
Interior in this hotel is so charming and very traditional. Everybody from the stuff is also really cute and polite.
I think if we return here next time in the summer it will be even more interesting with more available facilities of this area. But even now, in middle of April it’s so good and nice.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Although the hotel’s facilities are a bit dated, the service and food are still commendable.
Most aspects are good but the restaurant menu for a la carte is too simple & boring. Beef curry rice is worse than low cost street side food booth. Could not find beef at all, only sauce, not even a tiny bit of potato, onion nor carrot. Please call it "Plain Curry Sauce Rice".
5 people road trip to Lake Towadaso.
Japanese style hotel with public bathing.
The room is much spacious than expected. It is clear with comfort futon.
The only drawback is the weird pickle-like smell when entering the room.
The hotel is huge but empty. The other hotels in the lake are all shut down. Our hotel was the only place to eat. At the small place open for dinner there was only ONE lady trying to do everything all by herself!!! We had to wait a long time to be served. She took orders, cooked & served the customers & didn’t have time to bus the tables. The breakfast was included with our room & it was okay. The waterfall was impressive. The onsen is huge but empty. I was the only one in there.
Most facilities especially the onsen are old and worn-out. Don't understand while open air onsen closed in winter which is what we most enjoyed. Another thing we don't understand is the hotel charged extra 50 yen for using the hot spring (on top of the 150 yen tax) Breakfast is terrible. Surely will not book again.
