NEIGHBORHOOD
The apartment is located in Tremezzo, a charming village on Lake Como, famous for its gardens and historic villas. It is within walking distance from Villa Carlotta and other local attractions. A few steps away is the Tremezzo pier, from which boats depart to reach Como, Menaggio, and other beautiful locations on the upper lake, as well as the eastern shore where you can admire the famous Bellagio.
GETTING AROUND
The central location of "I Portici di Palazzo Brentano" makes it easy to explore Tremezzo and its attractions on foot. For those traveling by public transport, there is an ASF bus stop near the property, and the C10 line reaches Como and other lakeside towns. Tickets can be purchased on the bus (cash only) or at other authorized points. Note that bus services are not very frequent and end around ten in the evening. Taxi services are also available but not always easy to find in the area. From Como, it is easy to travel by train to Milan and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno). There are also public ferries departing from Como's city center dock to other lakeside locations. The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. TIPS
To move around and stroll by Lake Como, especially in small towns, it is necessary to wear comfortable shoes.
There are many public drinking water fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also drinkable. You can bring your refillable bottle!
If you are looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and still want to enjoy the mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is an easy-to-follow path that connects the lake towns from Colonno to Griante and passes through Tremezzo. Look for the Greenway signs in the area.
In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your purchases accordingly.
Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who want to immerse themselves in the water, however, there are some options. Nearby, there are the Lido di Ossuccio and the Lido di Lenno. In other small locations, there are more beaches and bars by the lake. The Lido di Bellagio and the pebbly beach of San Giovanni await those who want to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio. Residents and visitors also love going to Nesso, where the bravest swimmers can dive into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.
Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding Pre-Alps may not seem very high, but the climate is still influenced by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Pay particular attention to weather conditions during hikes and bring warm and waterproof clothing!

Awesome

Wonderful. Check in took five hours. No one to meet us. Also only one door key so if someone stayed in and there was a fire you could not get out. Also let people know about all the stairs. My daughter had a broken leg and had a hard time with the stairs as did 81 year old mom

Great value and nice little place

Stayed here for 3 nights. The place is very “classic”, like my grandmother decorated with a blank check, which is exactly what we wanted. That semi-touristy old Italian feel. If you’re a group of old ladies who like to play cards or a young couple looking to have a nice view to yourselves, it is a great choice. Right between the least travelled-to of the center lake high speed shuttle docks and the very exclusive(hilariously expensive) Grand Hotel Tremezzo, you do get some peace and quiet as opposed to staying in heavy foot traffic areas like Bellagio or Menaggio. But that does come with at the cost of limited food options; which is cured by the ferry day pass. Theres really only 3 options within walking distance. Locanda next door is the best choice with great seafood spaghetti(the full seafood, not just the shrimp), and the bar down the road is a great place to watch football. Several old shops and restaurants are shut but in a positive light, it keeps other tourists away. Solid 8/10
