Lovely off the beaten path stay. Quiet, beautiful town of 200 but not far from wineries and shopping. We had a great adventure here and would return.
Easy to find hotel and parking, although you do have to walk up a steep hill to get to hotel, fine for us and our children. The rooms are amazing, cute and quaint. They were very spacious, clean and comfortable. We traveled from Naples to Dubrovnik stopping in Tuscany for a few nights and this was one of our favorite stays! It was so beautiful! A great central location for all the towns we wanted to visit. Breakfast was delicious with a great view! Highly recommend! If we ever make it back to Tuscany we will definitely stay here!
The property is a short drive from various landmarks. Pienza (gladiator's grain field) and several other very nice Aggroturismo restaurants, wine tasting and wine tours available on a very short drive. Having a large parking lot just below the hotel, in a place where the streets are so narrow and you cannot find a parking spot, is very much appreciated. Overall a great experience.
We stayed in a spacious room with stunning mountain views. The room was very clean. The staff were so kind and helpful. We traveled with our teenage daughter and we all very much enjoyed our five night stay. Breakfast was great. The town is very charming.
The staff (Laura, Elena, Svetlana and Serena) were fantastic and extremely helpful. The breakfast was magnificent. The parking (down a ramp) was convenient but do not even try to drive into the town’s narrow and twisty streets. Hotel should warn drivers to arrive at the parking lot off the highway (give clear directions) and not enter town. There are 2 good restaurants within 5 and 10 minutes by car but ask the staff to help you make reservations. A wonderful experience. The only complaint was the lack of a real mini fridge to keep water and drinks cold.
We had a great stay at this place. The service was excellent and the stagg was so helpful. The room was clean and beautiful, really authentic which elevated the experience. We had breakfast in the gardens which was also lovely. Recommend!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Palazzo Brandano in the tiny Tuscan village of Petroio (population around 287!). From the day before our arrival, Laura was already in touch with us—her communication and genuine care made us feel welcome and looked after right away.
The hotel is full of character and perfectly situated in this charming little town. Petroio itself feels like something out of a movie—you can literally drive through it in about 4 minutes. The streets are narrow, winding, and picturesque, giving you the sense you’ve stepped back in time.
While there aren’t any restaurants directly in town, there are several excellent options just a few minutes’ drive from the hotel, which worked out perfectly for us. The breakfast in the morning was very good, the cappuccinos were excellent, and the servers were amazing—extremely kind and incredibly fast in bringing out your food.
Laura and the team went above and beyond to make our visit special. If you’re looking for a hidden gem that offers attentive service, authentic Tuscan charm, and the magic of staying in a very small Italian town, Palazzo Brandano is a perfect choice.
The Palazzo is part of a tiny medieval town, Petroio, perched on top of a hill (like all the Tuscan towns). It has old world charm like frescoes on the bedroom walls, but modern amenities like a skylight, mini fridge, and beautiful tiled bathroom. The breakfast was wonderful! So much food including a whole fruit bowl enjoyed sitting on the patio looking across the valley. What a way to start your day! The employees were are so nice.
Palazzo Brandano in Tuscany offers some of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen. Perched on a hilltop overlooking Petroio, the scenery from our room was absolutely unforgettable – definitely a 5-star view. The atmosphere is serene and picturesque, ideal for a peaceful getaway.
The room itself was spacious and comfortable, which we appreciated after a long day of travel. However, there are a few logistical downsides that travelers should be aware of. If you’re arriving by car (especially a larger one) be prepared for a stressful drive up very narrow streets and then a steep downhill walk to the parking area. We ended up carrying 3 heavy suitcases down the slope because I didn’t feel comfortable driving it the next morning.
The lobby closes between 8 and 8:30 PM, so if you’re arriving late, you’ll need to make special arrangements in advance. Breakfast needs to be ordered the day before due to the small staff, which is understandable since the hotel only has 9 rooms, but it does limit flexibility. Also, while there is an elevator for luggage, it doesn’t accommodate guests and had some functionality issues during our stay, which added to the inconvenience.
Lastly, the towel I received had noticeable black stains, which took away from the otherwise charming setting.
All in all, it’s a solid three-star hotel with an unbeatable view and quiet atmosphere, but guests should be prepared for a few practical hurdles. Worth it for the scenery - just plan ahead.
A cute bed and breakfast in a very quiet town. Restaurants are a minimum 3km away, so expect to drive, hotel does not offer meals other than breakfast. Free parking below the hotel, quite a hill to manage with suitcases. Mattresses could use updating, and the sofa bed very squeaky. The property is charming and the views are stunning, a peaceful stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at palazzo brandano. The staff was amazing and accommodating! The breakfast is perfect and the view was worth a million dollars. Would highly recommend to anyone and we will definitely stay again!
Room was large , spacious and gorgeous. Staff was very helpful and courteous

The location was great at the top of the town.the downside was vehicle access. We had to drag our luggage up the hill and there was no evening meals. Other than that very enjoyable with spacious room and bathroom. Quiet small town.
