Although Dax Cabins are a work in progress, we had a great stay. We arrived early and the owner/manager was very accomodating, getting us into our room. Our party of four were in a deluxe cabin with two queen beds. The room was small but adequate. It was updated and very clean. The bathroom was tiny but beautifully remodelled. The location is great - especially if headed to the Wild Center. Overall very pleased with our stay.
The interior cabin is freshly remodeled, giving a nice modern look. Check in time is 4pm, we arrived at 4:30pm, there was no one in the office, no way to alert anyone of our arrival. We found a woman cleaning that we spoke to, decided to get dinner and come back due to cabin not being ready yet. We returned about 7:30pm, office was dark and locked. We proceeded to cabin that we were told was assigned to us, door was unlocked, clean towels and cabin key were on top of bed. Bathroom was clean and sufficient. Upon removing pillows in bed, found a dark stain on sheets and hairs through out the sheets.
What a great stay! We arrived very late so wrote to the staff when booking (in the amenities section) to text us about getting into the cabin so very late, and they did. And getting in was a breeze. Room is cute and cozy. Air conditioning worked perfectly, and so did the hot water for the shower. I assume the bed is a foam mattress, everything was new. Parking right along the cabin.
The sink really was difficult to use, but we managed just fine.
The WiFi for the TV went in and out, but with patience we were fine.

The room was cold and the staff had to bring a space heater to heat the room. But the staff was very attentive and tried to please us anyway she could. The door didn't fit properly and you could see sunlight through the bottom of it. Also, there was no chair to sit in to read, no dresser, limited outlets for someone who needs to use a CPAP and other electrical equipment. The attendant had to bring in a floor outlet to plug in a space heater...There was no phone in the room if needed...On the positive side, the shower was great and easily accessible for a handicapped person; and the toilet and refrigerator were great. There was a little stand where some items could be stored but no dressers. The staff tried hard to accommodate us and we were appreciative. However, I would not recommend this place for older people for a lengthy stay...If you want a luxurious room, this isn't it. It was functional with a staff that aimed to please...

Upon arrival I was very nervous since the grass was not mowed, the business sign is faded and the pool has the cover caving in and doesn’t look opened for several years. The office is a mess with very limited hours. However, the little (very) cabin was all new inside. Bed was a comfortable firm memory foam. Bathroom is very small with a sink you couldn’t wash your face without making a flood on the floor. If your just needing a clean, comfy bed with a shower this is fine. No WiFi working took another” star “ off
The cabin was a little bit smaller than expected (photos on the website felt a little bit bigger) but everything was clean and comfortable. It was great having air-conditioning because we were there during a very hot week. We planned ahead and brought a an electric frying pan and an air fryer grill so that we could save a little bit of money and cook in our room so having picnic tables out on the grounds was wonderful to be able to take our food outside to eat.
The only downside was the Wi-Fi was very weak, we were not able to use the TV at all because it was connected to Wi-Fi. Thankfully there was a great thunderstorm that we could watch as we shut off all the lights and encourage us to tell some scary stories to each other!
My one suggestion would be to invest in a mesh system for the Wi-Fi so that the signal can reach all of the rooms and cabins successfully. Definitely helpful for parents like me that travel with children on the spectrum.
The contractor who runs the place is a nice guy, however I had to find him to check in on arrival. The room was clean and neat, room was large, the bed comfortable.
The room and bathroom were spacious. My only suggestion is there should be more than one lamp in the main room. A lamp is especially needed near the dining table.

Great location. Property is easy to access. Cabins are old/rustic and need updated, but cabin updates are in process. Host was very nice and accomodating for all our stays this summer.
This motel gave us retro vibes which made us have plentyof laughs. It was an older property, but that for us gave it a unique charm. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff did everything they could when dealing with a power issue. We would stay again.
The room was simple and clean. Kate was super friendly and was always available if we needed anything. We went during off season, so the hotel was updating, and the town had limited dining options. It is less than a mile away from the Wild Center which is walkable, so very convenient.
A real bargain, clean and comfortable. Minor things like no bathmat, no shower cap, no mugs for the coffee maker, no caffeinated coffee were less important than the new king size mattress and clean bathroom. I'd give it two to three stars.

This hotel needs lots of updates. The property manager was not there when we checked in but left the key in the room. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean but overall it was so dark with one lamp in the room that it felt uninviting. The grounds were unkempt and there was a pool that was closed and looked like it had been closed for years.
This older motel is clearly being remodeled but has a long way to go. Bathroom outlet didn't work, no hand soap, carpets stained and nightstand inadequate. On the positive side the owner was friendly, bed comfortable and location to hiking convenient.

The buildings haven't been renovated since the 1970' s i think. In spite of that it had a kind of charm to it. We spoke to the owner and he plans on upgrading this winter. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There waa a very bright outside light that was on all night. That was the most irritating thing. It was nice to not stay ay a chain motel. It had charm. Had chairs outside the rooms to sit in at night (like Mayberry)!
