Spacious property in a stunning location! the cottage has a cosy lounge with woodburner and large sunroom looking out over bay. 2 double beds (1 with en suite) and 1 single, lounge with smart TV, WiFi and wood burner, fully equipped kitchen, 2nd shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin and WC, large conservatory with amazing views out over Morecambe Bay, lobby with wash machine, night storage heaters and convector heaters. Fabulous at all times of the year!
Extensive private enclosed grounds with seating areas, garden furniture and bird viewing hide. Also elevated seating area with amazing views over the bay and the hills behind. It would be hard to find a more tranquil, beautiful location. The accommodation is all on one level tho there are 4 steps (with handrail) down from the parking area.
Region:
The property is secluded but only a 5 min walk from the village of Baycliff which has 2 pubs serving food.; 2 miles from the Manjushri Buddhist Centre and 4 miles from the lively market town of Ulverston with its many festivals - including Lantern, Flag, Music and Dickensian - and excellent shops - independent ones plus the wonderful Booth's supermarket, M&S Food outlet and large Aldi. There is the fascinating Laurel & Hardy museum, a twice weekly street market, Christmas Market alongside the Dickensian festival and a whole programme of festivals throughout the year, including several music festivals, walking and cycling festivals, print makers festival. Ulverston Leisure Centre is on the road from the cottage.
The famous Roy's Ices can be found on the road into Ulverston - try flavours you've never heard of before! You can also walk here (about 30mins) along the beach from the cottage.
Nearby Barrow in Furness has much of interest including the Dock Museum for a rainy day! Furness Abbey is a stunning example of a Cistercian Abbey - and the cafe is great!
Take a ferry over to Piel Island and explore the wonderful (free) National Trust Castle before refreshing yourselves at the pub on the island.
Other nearby attractions include the South Lakes Wildlife Park and Brockholes Outdoor Adventure Park.
There are plenty of great walks and bike rides from the property itself (including Birkrigg Common with its stone circle.)
And all this before you even begin to venture into the Lake District proper!

Loved by bird watchers, dog owners, walkers, families and those seeking peace and quiet.
All fuel, electric, bed linen and towels provided. extensive patio paved areas with garden furniture provided, enclosed grounds. Travel cot, high chair available. Well behaved dogs welcomed. Plenty of private, off road space for parking. NB: the property is reached down 4 steps down from the parking area - there is a handrail but the cottage itself is all on one level.
Favourable rates available - please enquire and discounted rates for whole weeks.
Many of our guests are returnees, several come every year - this also explains why we have less reviews than we'd like as reviews are only permitted for bookings through HomeAway.

Bring your wellies if you want to walk out across the sands and don’t want to get wet feet!

Honestly the quietest place we have ever stopped. Fantastic location on the beach front. And I mean fantastic. No need for a dog lead while staying here. Had such a good time. Can't wait to go back and that's not like us lol. One of the best holidays we've had.

We had a great week here. The property had enough space for the four of us with plenty of room to sit in the conservatory and enjoy the view. The location was amazing, you are literally right on the beach. Ulverston is only a short drive away for provisions or a meal out. Really sad to leave as it was a wonderfully relaxing place to be.

Property is in an excellent location but work needs doing inside & outside of the house, we had a few issues which I communicated to the owner but thought it over priced for the conditions on saying that it could be made lovely & be a little gem.

Enjoyed stay but area was too busy for our tastes though not surprising given it was a bank holiday week. Unfortunately we would not revisit as the steps would be just too difficult for my parents.

Just come back from a wonderful restful holiday at Maskel Beach Cottage. Was very clean and cosy, all very lovely and comfy. Fantastic views and cottage has everything you need. Rose was a wonderful host and provided us with a welcome bottle and all the logs we wanted. Everyone enjoyed the beach being right next to us and so peaceful and quiet, dogs absolutely loved it and have sulked ever since we got back. Would definitely recommend and we will be back. Thank you very much Rose and Bob for sharing your home.

It was our 4th stay and this gem of a cottage and it was so good to return! What a wonderful place to stay! Opening that gate onto Morecombe Bay is bliss, sitting in the conservatory and looking out of an evening is bliss! It's a really comfy home from home place for us. We had a break of 2 and a half years due to buying a motorhome but as soon as we opened that door, we realised how much we missed it! So much so, we booked it again for September before we left. Thank you Rose and Bob for sharing such a special place, we really do feel at home there and can't wait to return.

This was our third visit to Maskel Beach Cottage and it was by far our best visit.....my partner and I decided to get married there this time! What can I say apart from we love the location and the cottage just feels like home from home (but with far better views!). I think it will be very hard to beat the overall package this cottage has to offer. Thank you Rose and Bob for your lovely card and bottle of bubbly for our special day and for giving us the chance to get married somewhere very close to our hearts.

Peace..tranquillity..relaxation what more do you want from a holiday....this place has it. Totally enclosed huge garden space which my dog loved. It was also a total suntrap which i loved. Windows open listening to waves on the shore...idyllic. I adore cows so to have them in the field behind & greeting us each morning was a total bonus.... Walking to Bardsea or other way to Aldingham in mornings with dog to eatch the sunrise...was just bliss. Couple of issues which lovely owner Rose dealt with quickly & efficiently & was lovely.

If you need some rest and relaxation this is the place to go. The location is fabulous, being so near the water is so calming and our dog was in heaven. The accommodation was warm and cosy and the location was fab. The views are fabulous and I loved sitting in the conservatory when it was raining and listening to the sounds. We didn’t go out much except to walk on the beach, but there is also a wonderful meditation centre just down the road that’s worth a visit - excellent coffee and cakes! We would definitely return. Communication with the owner was excellent all the way through. The only minor negative was that the dishwasher didn’t really work very well (we were aware of that) and we had to wash all the glasses and pots before we used them because they weren’t clean.

Obtaining entry to the cottage was easy, cleaning was very very poor we had to hoover & mop as soon as we got there it already smelt of wet dogs even though we had dogs we dried them off before letting them in the cottage. Bedding felt damp and had a musky smell like it had not been aired or had windows open to let the air flow through. More security lights needed you can’t see when coming back in the dark. Was great location perfect for the dogs, great little pub the farmers nearby. As a family there for Christmas we made the most of it. Property in need of some TLC & updating.

We arrived at the cottage on an early evening in April with the internet photos of the cottage in our minds and found the location (in splendid sunshine) exactly as shown by the photos. The premises gave us a private, secluded, sheltered feeling, with much light inside (wonderful: the morning sun warming up the observatory and shining into the front-side rooms, the beautiful view through the big main bedroom - window out on the tree in full spring bloom in front of it) and a lot of space outside. We walked through the blue gate and were out on the beach for long walks, and from the observatory we had a beautiful view of the ebb and swell of the sea. The place is an ideal basis for excursions to the southern parts of the Lakes, but the northern parts can be reached comfortably as well. For a family of five the cottage offers everything (!) needed. Heating was o.k. with efficient electric radiators, - which, however, let us worry a little about the energy consumption balance. Electricity was included in the price, though. Contact with Rose, the landlady, was perfect, always prompt and constructive. So, although we had to arrange everything from Germany, we never for a second felt left along with anything that might have worried us. If we decided to visit the southern Lakes again, we certainly would go for Rose's cottage again. Friedel and Babett, Paul, Jacob, Hannah

Its a very tired sad place lots of mould and fundamentally not clean , for instance lots dead wood lice on ensuite floor when we arrived that's just one example, i emailed the owner after we cut short our very expensive 3 night stay, and was told i should of rung the cleaner. I cleaned kitchen, bathroom, conservatory and lounge with the meager cleaning products left there and ones i had taken myself and we slept in our sleeping bags with our own pillows, my husband also put back up fallen guttering. The conservatory leaks badly there's plastic bags in gaps and one leak runs down onto the electrical sockets so we had to put towels on the window sill, there was one teaspoon!! I know its busy and it shows there's no tlc given to the place at all, it needs shutting down for a couple of weeks or longer and given a thorough clean up and redecoration, i was told that there will be a kitchen makeover happening and despite that being original from the purchase in 2007 its one of the better areas apart from the new flooring and dirty electric cooker. I could go on and on but i wont, suffice to say we were bitterly disappointed and didn't get a satisfactory response from the owner (might now, but this is honest feedback) we have stayed in many coastal properties in various areas and price brackets in the UK and abroad but this was far and away the worst.

We loved our stay at this property. It's a ground floor cottage fronting onto Morecambe bay and it is super peaceful, the views are amazing as the sea comes in and out, and the bird-watching opps are brilliant. Sparrow hawk swept through the garden, oyster catchers, plovers and others were in the bay. The cottage is lovely at a basic level so don't expect great luxury. That suited us fine. The sunroom looking onto the bay was so relaxing. Walks along the beach are a bit tricky although the owners say to walk out across the sands. We weren't so sure about this. There is access to other treats in the vicinity though so all fine. Garden and beach access for our dog was secure so brilliant to be able to relax as he explored.
