"The check-in desk is NOT at the Bryggen property. Information was posted on the front door about where to go but it was only in Norwegian. Fortunately, another guest translated it for us."

"On arrival our 2 night booking could not be found we were then given a room overlooking a roof directly outside the laundry and cleaners room. When I asked to change rooms the boy on reception said they were full, rubbish, there was about a dozen people in the hotel. The place is old, in need of a massive upgrade in the rooms and there’s a reason the bathroom is not in the picture of the room, it was the size of a broom cupboard with old plastic sink and toilet and the shower would be very cosy for a larger person. There’s no kettle or water in the room either. Some parts of the hotel have been upgraded, outside has a nice patio and play area overlooking the water. There’s no lift so hauling cases up 3 flights is not fun. Overall we left after one night and didn’t look back, there’s nothing in town but a run down shop so keep driving."

"Beautiful hotel, nice decor and wonderful setting. Room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Breakfast was hearty and tasty. Three well built docks for jumping into the Arctic Ocean! Would definitely stay again."
