"This is a complicated review, please read to the end.We were a party of 19, from 78 years old down to 1 year old. The children had a wonderful time, in the pool all day, playing in the grounds, and safe cycling along the lovely river. The adults spent many happy hours on the terrace, reading, eating chatting and drinking. It was supremely relaxing.The bedrooms were numerous and all had en suite.Gil, the concierge-property manager could not have been more friendly and helpful.However, the property is quite run down. The bathrooms varied in their functionality. The kitchen was inadequate for such a large property and the electrics were temperamental All that being said, we had a wonderful holiday and it was exceptional value for money.If you are a large multi-generational family group it may be the best venue. But it is imperfect. Four stars seems fair."
Gîte in the castle - swimming pool with view - charm, history and nature

"This is a very special property and I recommend it highly.It is very much a chateau/castle as per the photos, with lovely wood floors, styled ceilings, antique furniture. The beds are old fashioned but comfortable. The bathrooms are all modern and well equipped with good showers. The place is exceptionally well equipped - everything you could possibly need when it comes to dining and cooking. On arrival, there were some supplies to start us off till we could get to the shops, which was very generous. Everything is of very good quality and you are trusted to use lovely things. There was huge assortment of drawing and colouring materials and toys for the children, also board games. The pool is lovely and a good size. There is an amazing pool house which again is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, fridge, and cooking facilities including a bbq.Phillipe and Marina live on site in another part of the chateau. They were perfect hosts, completely unobtrusive but helpful when we had questions. We stayed for two weeks, a family of three couples and two children. I'm not sure anyone ever bbq'd as much as we did, and Phillipe and Marina certainly had a lot to put up with, as we generated a lot of recycling and compost and so on, which they quietly dealt with along with keeping the pool clean, a challenge as the kids were in the pool from morning till night!Thank you so much to both of them for a most amazing stay and we would love to be able to return.,"

"We very much enjoyed our stay at the Chateau de Lauresse, our daughter in particular enjoyed the horses that would come up to her and were very friendly. We had our dog with us who was very welcome and allowed to roam the gardens, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The pool was excellent, the pool toys and sauna, as well as other games (table football/pétanque etc.), steam room, meant it was very well equipped and felt special. We had the meal which we really enjoyed, the portions were large so be prepared. We stayed in the royal suite, the rooms were very large and nicely decorated, comfortable beds and the biggest shower I’ve ever encountered in the en-suite bathroom, all with high ceilings so felt very spacious."

"De woning was fantastisch! Van alle gemakken voorzien. Fijne tuin. Mooi zwembad. Ontzettend aardige eigenaar die altijd klaarstond als je een vraag had. Leuk gebied ook. De prijs - kwaliteit verhouding is perfect. We hebben een ontzettend fijne vakantie gehad. Absolute aanrader!"

Cosy house in the heart of the Perche Sarthe region

"Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. L’annonce est conforme à la maison. En revanche la propreté laissait un peu à désirer : la salle de jeux n’était pas propre, un peu de vaisselle également mal nettoyée. La piscine est petite c’est vrai mais correspond à la description. Nous avons également été quelque peu embêtés par le chien du voisin qui est venu nous voir à plusieurs reprises. Le terrain de pétanque est top, à l’ombre et il y a suffisamment de vaisselles pour 20. 2 grands frigos et la Clim dans une chambre, ce qui a été bien apprécié. Bref, le rapport qualité-prix est très convenable"

"My family, including our two young children, stayed at Repère Sauvage for three nights in late June 2026, and we had a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful, with thoughtful attention to every detail, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the swimming pool, the bicycles, and the delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would gladly stay here again on a future trip. Highly recommended!"
