"This hotel is in the small town of Vaughn that I picked simply as a stopover point during a long drive. The town is mainly centered around the railroad and I noticed a lot of work trucks in the parking lot. I found out later that the primary business for the hotel are railroad workers. Vaughn is the shift change stop for crew that have reached their union max work time of twelve hours. The hotel offers a nice lounge TV room for them, a computer room, and gym.
There is a classic 24/7 American diner on site, which is where check in is. The breakfast there was excellent, but is extra.
The main problem I had was some parking confusion. I came in late in the dark. I had a double with outside door, which was on the back side of the building. The main building is interior corridors. The confusing issue was that to reach my double room, I had to drive out of the parking lot, through a gate, and around the building in the dark. Parking on that side is a strip of gravel next to a wide open scrubby field. Very weird.
One other note, the ice machine runs out in the morning when the workers leave early, but the diner can get some for you.
That said, the room was comfortable and fine for the night."
