On arrival, was met with sign on door stating hotel is closed down and no longer in business. This is despite a confirmed booking email. No notification was sent to alert of situation. Booking made in August 2017 for accomodation of 15 Jan 2018. Had to look for alternate accomodation in the evening in foreign country. Not pleasant experience for family with children.

Reasonably priced. Centrally located
The staff were friendly. The room was a good size and clean except for some carpet stains. It is reasonably priced and centrally located. There are some questionable characters hanging around in the area. I also, unfortunately had a room next to a loud group that was up until 2am, that liked to go in and out of their room to smoke and "talk" in front of mine.

Great value for family accommodation
Great value, bedrooms were large, comfortable beds, very clean, kitchen had a fridge/microwave/coffee maker only but was sufficient for our needs, view of the water was a nice bonus!
Previous reviews have noted the "renovations", but it turns out the entire property is being converted to apartments, which means constant construction noise (2 of the 3 buildings are now closed) from about 8am until the evening. Could hear the workers' conversations right through the door, so apparently they didn't get the memo that people are still paying money to sleep at the hotel.
Front desk service was very good and friendly, but room was below even EconoLodge standards: disgusting carpet, "connector" door to adjacent room which was so thin we could hear every word on our neighbour's TV, and literally "trapped" (during peak traffic) in the parking lot due to both construction and a very busy intersection. "Free Breakfast" was a simple continental one, adequate but also not really worthwhile unless one doesn't have time to get a hot breakfast nearby.
WiFi was also inconsistent.
Not sure why they bother to keep one building open, but it seems to be time to just shut it all down.

Be aware
Location it’s okay.
Unfortunately the building has paper thin walls. We were able to hear the conversations that other people had next door which it was odd.
we were able to check in early, which was great. As soon as we opened door, it smelled terrible. Room was clean though, i will give it that. Bed was old, uncomfy, bathroom needs to be redone soon. We were told room had microwave, it did not. I questioned this with front desk and they were kind enough to bring one in. Sleepless night as you can hear toilets flush, doors close, people walking above. We were on lower level. The pool- it is outdoors and had NO water in it. Cannot comment on breakfast as we had an early appt and did not have breakfast. We were also allowed one hour later check out due to our appt. So the staff is nice and accommodating when asked but motel is old and a little smelly.
Fast check in. Friendly staff. Nice clean room. Lots of choices at continental breakfast. Free parking. Pet friendly. All around will be staying there every time I go to Victoria. :)
Stairs up a bit scarey. Needed sweeping . Carpet disgusting...stTained. grubby looking, Dated. Bed covering stained dirty looking. Furniture cheap and dated. Nice TV. Bathroom clean . But toilet noisy. Asked to change rooms offered room on busy street edge and the building looked the same so chose to stay there and spend only a little time in the room. Breakfast was fine.
Honestly I only have 1 nice thing to say.... it had hot water!
But honestly I went to check in and there was a $200 security deposit.... I couldn't believe this dump could get worse let alone need a security deposit! I would have left if I didn't arrive wicked late and had more time to find an alternative place to say 1 night. I was there 8 hrs and I hated every minute!!!!

Not comfortable for charging $200 security deposit
the hotel charges $200 security deposit while check-in and returns it after check-out if the hotel approves everything is OK. Wi-Fi was very slow.
Pleasantly surprised at the accommodation. It was very clean and comfortable and getting breakfast included was a bonus. The location was great, despite being at the junction of two main roads, traffic noise was not an issue. Our only negative was there was no lift or help available when staying on the upper floor. As two pensioners, one of whom is not particularly mobile, this proved a challenge, especially with suitcases. Perhaps an amendment to the booking form could include a question on mobility/accessibility.

Great sleep
Overall, the experience was good. Clean, comfortable, quiet room (when the air conditioning was turned off!) Had a very good sleep. However, the cable TV, was difficult to figure out and no TV guide anywhere.
One thing that I found very unusual was the fact that the breakfast room was equipped with only plastic cutlery and paper plates. Not acceptable and very much against the move to respect our environment and keep plastic and unnecessary waste out of the landfills and oceans. Please stop this practice and give proper cutlery, plates and other dining items to your guests. The continental breakfast itself was plentiful and adequate but that "toaster" is something else!
Thanks you for giving me the opportunity to give positive and encouraging feedback to the hotel staff and owners.

Love the location on the gorge for walks and breakfast patio. Room is clean and basic. Could use some updated pillows and bedding. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner was a bit loud. Breakfast wasn't very good. Not enough selection. Location fairly quiet. Would like to see more environmental friendly features. Staff were very good. Priced OK so maybe you get what you pay for.

Nice and central for my needs.
The fridge was a little loud. Other than that, it is a decent economy hotel, and their complementary breakfast is pretty good.
We got into Victoria late, but our check-in was quick & courteous. The staff was friendly. Our room was spacious & clean. Continental breakfast was included. Also there was an outdoor patio, so we could enjoy our breakfast overlooking the water. We would stay here again the next time we come to Victoria.
