Vothonas is a settlement excavated into the banks of a ravine formed by a torrent. It was tough finding it without a map, just an image of a church called "Panaghia Trypa". the rock hewn church of Panagia Trypa (Virgin Mary in the Hole), or Panagia Sergena, This remote church was used by locals as refuge during the Turkish rule.Its off the beaten track and here you can only see the facade of the entrance to the church. #endlesssummer#stunningstructures

"Patio off the front door looks out on the opposite side of the caldera but rooftop patio looks out onto the caldera. Walking path right out the gate. Restaurant and bars easy to get to. Walk to Fira to see that town or get the bus is about 20 mins. "

The breakfast was served by a kind gentleman who provided tasty and timely meals each morning. This location in Imerovigli offers such splendid views of the caldera while also providing ample privacy. It is also less than twenty minute drive to most parts of Santorini. The home itself is quiet, comfortable and spacious. "

"This hotel exceeded our expectations, In every single way. We've traveled and stayed in gorgeous properties around the world, and I can't have enough words to say how we feel when leaving this resort (today). The most unbelievable experience. The property, the room... the private pool in the room, what a treat! Two amazing restaurants at the property with stunning sunset views. Also, important - it's literally 5 minutes walk from the caldera's blue domes, but it's like a sanctuary, peaceful and serene and away from the noise and millions of tourists. Possibly THE BEST vacation/resort ever. So relaxing, you don't need to leave the property - other than for an hour to caldera of Oia, and then you can't wait to come back!!! Breakfast, dinner - amazing! Staff - smiling, genuine, making a point to make your experience magical and memorable. And they did. Amazing. Want to mention Anna, George, Vazha, Christos (both - morning and evening). Seriously, I feel like I am leaving the family and a piece of my heart here in Santorini. Service - top notch but so subtle and unintrusive, it is truly hard to describe... one must experience. We cannot wait to come back!!!! AMAZING in every way!!!! "
