"We were excited to stay in downtown Idar Oberstein since previously we had stayed a bit out of town. Sadly, the experience was lacking and bordered on depressing. I want to be quick to say that some of this is not the property's fault. Idar Oberstein is struggling like many small German cities within maintaining a vibrant downtown. "Lovely guest house about 30 mins from Trier in a national park. Host on site to welcome. Large ensuite room with bath and separate shower. Comfortable bed. Free parking. "The view is spectacular!! Our kids thought the place was amazing and we also enjoyed it. Owner was very quick to answer any questions we had. It's a little tricky to get to; but that was likely due to us not being from Germany/the area/understanding how the roads work. Once we understood how to get to it, it was a breeze to come and go.
