Unique building in an outdoor area. 3 stories with elevator between 1&2. Third (for 3 rooms) only reached via stairs. Nice common area with coffee, tea, microwave and snacks for purchase. Our room under the eves was comfortable once we were told about heating thermostat. Innkeeper very friendly and accommodating.

The lodge is an old house on a hill, quite far from downtown and shopping areas. The facilities upstairs are decent, and the coin-operated washer and dryer are convenient. However, the bedrooms are close to each other and the living room, making privacy and quiet time difficult. John, the staff member in charge, was unfriendly and unpleasant to deal with. I sometimes felt his attitude toward Asian guests was dismissive. Overall, the location, limited privacy, and service experience made the stay less enjoyable.

Cant say enough amazing things about my stay at Mad River Lodge! The inn-keeper Dana was so kind and gave ideas for activities in the area and helped me get to my wedding when we had no ideas on how to get there. The whole experience was so personable, and I loved the shared space with a chess board, games, tea, and coffee!
