"This is our second time staying at OceanView, and we absolutely enjoyed our stay! 😊 The place is clean, the amenities are great, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Plus, the view is beautiful! 🌊 sea lions and seals are just by the dock in front of the hotel.
It’s also very close to a great crabbing area, which made our stay even more fun. 🦀 If you’re lucky enough to catch some crab, you can even cook it right in your room! They have a convenient mini kitchen—just bring your favorite seasonings and ingredients.
We had another wonderful experience and will definitely be coming back again! Highly recommend OceanView for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. ❤️"
"Hotel would be spotless my only complaint is the wet floors from people going back to their rooms with wet feet. Could do with gowns for people to wear as towels are small and don’t cover up. Pool small but kids appear to love the slides. Breakfast doesn’t provide items listed I.e. no bacon that I saw people wanted. Only nearby food places if don’t have transport is A&W and Tim Hortons. Otherwise is a great hotel but expensive for what amenities are available."
"The woman at the front desk could not have been more helpful and sweet. I asked directions to the ferry in Victoria and, not only did she give me directions, she looked them up online and printed them out for me. Lovely."
"We stayed in a restored room, making everything clean fresh and new. This spot is perfect for a traveler looking for no frills and a clean place to rest. Location across the street from the beach was amazing."
"We enjoyed our stay overall. The property is very quaint and peaceful, and we loved our ocean-view villa — it was comfortable, beautiful, and a lovely place to spend a few days on Mayne Island.
Unfortunately, all of the resort amenities, including the pool, hot tub and sauna, were under maintenance during our stay, so we weren’t able to use any of them. It made the property feel less like a resort and more like an Airbnb-style stay where you’re largely on your own.
We also ate at the restaurant on Friday night and dinner took close to three hours, which was especially difficult with kids, so I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant based on our experience.
Most of the staff were very friendly, although one person at the front desk was quite dismissive when we asked questions about the island and didn’t seem particularly interested in helping.
That said, we still really enjoyed our time on Mayne Island and loved our villa. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends — I’d just suggest exploring the island for meals and going in with the expectation of more of a self-contained getaway than a full-service resort."
