Spacious luxurious cottage at lake Koocanusa. Newly build in 2023.

Koocanuusa Retreat is a spacious, luxurious (ski) cabin for groups of up to 10.
Ski resorts are on a 40 minutes distance: Fernie and Kimberly.

The cabin is close to the lake and has walkable access to the water for swimming and water sports.

The main floor has a family room and open kitchen with bar chairs. There’s a dining table with 6 chairs, with large sliding glass doors showing the lake.

The first floor has a master bedroom with an attached luxurious bathroom with a free-standing tub and a shower.
The second bedroom has a bunk bed: one double and one twin bed.
The third bedroom has a queen-sized bed.
In the fourth bedroom, there’s a crib.
There’s a second bathroom in the hallway with a shower.

The basement has two bedrooms with a queen-size bed. There’s a bathroom with a bath/shower combination.
A family room with a large couch and TV will give a cozy atmosphere for board games and cold winter evenings.

The outdoor deck has a dining table for 8 + 2 large couches + a BBQ to eat outside.

Beautiful home and boat friendly lake
We stay in a lot of places every summer and this was on of the prettiest properties. The lake made boating (getting on and off the water) a breeze too which is surprisingly hard to find normally. The host was very quick to respond and helpful when needed. The place was clean, stocked well and bedding was clean and comfortable. The only thing we didn't anticipate was not having any yard whatsoever. Other than that, it was fantastic. We knew this ahead of time however one thing to note is that there is nothing in the area to do in terms of activities. Closest things are maybe 1 to 1.5 hours away. This wasn't a negative though as we knew before booking what was and was not in the area. Just letting any other visitors know!

Beautiful well appointed house with plenty of room
Beautiful place with all we needed. Great kitchen and deck and lots of quiet places for everyone. VRBO app/process for making changes to booking was not great. After booking was made and 2 months prior to arriving my family asked to investigate cost savings for deleting one night. I was directed to make changes online and was not quoted the cost savings, before the booking was changed. If we'd known that we were only getting that amount back perhaps we would have kept the 5th night. This was a Family reunion with 2 other houses in the area, we were not sure who was staying where until the last week. Making changes to number staying at the house was frustrating. I made changes online as directed, but was asked by host to call VRBO, which I did, whereupon the agent made changes in the exact same way I did. Also no idea how much more it was going to be until it was charged. More transparency on these fee changes would be great. Only problem with the house was the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. We did our best to shut it down, not sure why it was going off.

Beautiful cabin close to Koocanusa
The cabin was gorgeous and had lots of rooms with nice beds and bathrooms that matched the bedrooms nicely. Great for a group!

Great escape
Beautiful house with all the amenities. We had one issue with a bed but Caroline responded right away and assured it will be fixed. We had extreme heat and thankfully had a boat to get out on the water as the walk down to the dock area is a bit of a trek and was not accessible for the senior with us so taking a side by side wouldn’t hurt if applicable. I would Definetly recommend this home it’s spacious with an amazing patio we spent every night on and will definetly consider renting again and only suggestion to the home owners would be to get A/C otherwise we had a great time making memories thanks for renting us your home

A great stay at Koocanusa Retreat!
We were 2 families of 5 staying here (6 kids all under the age of 9) and we had an awesome time. Really great space for them, and us adults to have time away from them while knowing they were safe (there is so much space!) in my opinion you could sleep quite a few people here if needed. The only con was this property portrays as it is lake/riverfront from the pictures— it is up on a mountain with a trail that leads to the water. Other than that, we had a really great time at this beautiful getaway and recommend Caroline’s property!
