Great Bargain economy hotel room in Washington N.C. Clean, no bugs, comfortable bed, spacious room. I have stayed in several low priced motels in this area recently and the Econo Lodge North is, by far, the best deal. This is a no-frills motel but a great value!

Econo Lodge Washington NC

The hotel room had some renovations including newer furniture and bathroom fixtures/tiles. The cleanliness was OK, considering the hotel is old. The beds were clean and comfortable. It was fine for the night.

A LOT of road traffic noise. No amenities. Couldn’t get an Uber at all. Property is super-basic. Room was ok. Bathroom grotty. Staff was lovely and so helpful. Wouldn’t stay here again.

It's possible the room was clean - we saw someone cleaning before we went in. However, the place is in a sad state of disrepair, so it's hard to tell if everything is just dirty or really old and not cared for. Our last morning we saw two roaches, which just about summed up the experience for us.

Cheap, but questionable

Motel is cheap, but definitely sketchy. People hanging out all hours of the night. Good for a cheap 1 night stay.

My 3rd stay here. The hotel is always pretty clean, although this time I did find a very old corn dog left in the microwave. This time I stayed on the north side of the hotel which is closer to a busy road, so traffic noise was greater. My friend stayed in the Quality Inn across the street, and having seen those rooms, I'd say that the Econo Lodge is the better hotel. Will probably stay here again in the fall on a return trip.

Okay for the price

The bed was clean and comfortable. Front desk person was friendly. There were little dead bugs all over the floor in the bathroom and the tub edge was dirty. Housekeeping needs improvement.

You do get exactly what you pay for. It's Econolodge so the expectations are not that high. They set the bar low and they keep it there. It has just the bare minimum of what you'd need, but everything is in a state of disrepair. Squashed bug on the wall, peeling bathtub, bathroom door that looks like it's never been wiped down, floor laminate popping up, torn up chair, sink with no plug that brings up the hair and dirt of all its past room guests... I thought just having a bed for the night would be enough but I learned a lot about myself through this experience. Comfort and cleanliness are worth the extra few dollars.

There were a few dead cockroaches around the room. The water came out yellow at first, so we had to let it run for a few minutes. We had a service animal (they asked for papers at check-in) and we were placed in a specific room, which was close to the grassy area on the first level. The room location was convenient, but there was a strong smoky smell that lingered our whole stay. The air conditioning unit was very loud and would cut on and off every couple minutes making loud banging noises that woke us up constantly throughout the night. We tried every setting; high, low, and auto, but nothing helped. The room’s insulation wasn’t great because we decided to turn the ac unit off to get a few hours of comfortable rest, but woke up about an hour in because the room went from 67 to 82, so we turned the ac back on. The beds were comfortable and felt clean. The linens and pillows had no stains and weren’t scratchy. The area surrounding the hotel wasn’t too bad, but we did walk to grab food for lunch around 1pm and passed by quite a few homeless and people vomiting/under the influence. I would suggest driving into the waterfront area for everything because it is a much nicer and safer area and only 5 mins away. There is no continental breakfast although it is listed on their sites. We opted for this hotel because it had breakfast, so we wouldn’t stay again. It was a reasonable stay for the inexpensive price, but you have to be mindful that you are getting exactly what you pay for.
