Great for a larger group!

We had an awesome stay in this lodge! This was perfect for our large group with two living areas and plenty of room to spread out. Would have loved to have some carpet or a big comfy couch for more of the warm cabin feel, but it wasn’t necessary for our group and the grounds/space is awesome!

Great location for a peaceful weekend away

Our group of friends had a great stay. Very nice location on a quiet road adjacent to a county park. The fire pit in a clearing in the woods is so nice. Ample space for sleeping and gathering, and 5 full bathrooms is a huge plus. Highly recommend!

This house is perfect for families. It is set up with plenty of sleeping, eating and spaces for games. The outside property is beautiful as well as the inside. There are many beautiful small towns nearby to explore as well as parks.

Wonderful location! Nice trails to explore and yard was amazing. First morning we experienced deer visitors. Cabin is spacious and was just perfect for our family get away. I highly recommend!

Wonderful Weekend

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate big birthdays with family!! Beautiful, peaceful, and spacious!! We loved sitting on the huge porch and talking and enjoying the lovely view. We enjoyed the pond as well. Such wonderful memories! We hope to come back!!

Wonderful for Large Gatherings

We loved our stay at this property. There was plenty of space for the 12 of us to spread out or to be together. It’s a beautiful, clean home with all the amenities. I’d love to come back in the summer or fall to explore the property more, but we loved it!

Family get together

We had a great time relaxing in this spacious quiet country home. We had a group of 11 and there was plenty of room for everyone. We grilled a few meals, walked the trails, and enjoyed the firepit. Place was clean and property well kept. All in all this was a great place for our family to spend quality time together

Spacious house in relaxing setting

The house was perfect for high school friends to get together. All bedrooms have a bathroom which is great. Two kitchens helped so much with needed refrigerator space as we always take too much food. The beds are super comfortable. We will stay here again next year.

Best Family Vacation Home we've ever stayed in!!!

This fabulous rural property fit our needs perfectly… Eight adults ranging 40 years to 68 years and eight "kids "ranging seven years to 18 had plenty of space to spread out and explore and also plenty of room to join together for meals and games… The only change I would say is please do more photos and explanation of this fabulous house… We were very, very pleasantly surprised to have TWO kitchens, an amazing wraparound deck and all the other amenities that came with the Hero Lodge. Jennifer was a fabulous hostess, and everyone in our family voted to come back again next year!!!

Great place for a family reunion

This house was one of the most beautiful VRBOs we've had the pleasure of staying at. From the open family gathering spaces to the door pit and pond we never ran out of things to keep the 9 little grandkids busy. We enjoyed watching deer grazing at sunrise, using the paddle boat to give rides with the littles, and sitting on the spacious deck reading and visiting. Can't say enough nice things about this wonderful retreat. We will definitely be back next year

family vacation

Quiet setting with plenty of room for all of us (3 generations) to spread out. We enjoyed sitting on the lovely covered deck listening to birds, watching deer as well as watching the storms pass thru. Large table so we could all eat together and play games. Some used the paddle boat and canoes. Nice facility and wheelchair accessible. good to have 2 kitchens available for meal prep.

This is perfect. Location, lodging, outside and inside. We will be back time and time again. Waited so long for the weekend and then it was gone before we knew it. Sad leaving there. Great job!!!!

Family Get Away

The place was very clean and set up was nice for a large gathering. There are two kitchens, one stocked well. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of bathrooms. There were several taxidermy animals throughout the space. These are not shown in the listing or pictures. The pond is lovely to look at but is not swimmable. Enjoyed our stay.

Washington, Iowa lodge

The house and property were perfect. We had 5 couples and wanted bedrooms and bathrooms for each couple. The house was spotless, the kitchen is well stocked and the property offers multiple fire pits, hiking opportunities and privacy. The check-in communication needs to be improved, otherwise this property was as described and we were extremely happy staying here.

A relaxing weekend!

This property is serene and beautiful. We had a group of 14 friends stay here for a weekend retreat, and it was very comfortable. So much room to run and play a big game of ultimate frisbee outside and very spacious inside. It rained a little, but we still got to enjoy the outdoors the entire time because of the amazing porch. The house was clean and tidy and had quite a bit of entertainment to offer. We used the peddle boat, had a fire in the fire pit, played games, and did a puzzle. This place was perfect for our weekend retreat!

Great place for our family

This house worked out great for our family of 14. Each couple had their own bathroom which is a huge plus. The kitchen was very nice - maybe could have used a crockpot and a few other kitchen items but it worked out ok. A nice location but you have to be ok with driving dusty gravel roads which we are used to. A little short on bath towels and dish towels but we just ran the washing machine more often. Would recommend to anyone wanting a big house for a gathering.

Relaxing Weekend with Friends

We had a wonderful time at the lodge! We had three families in our group with 11 kids ranging in age from 2-9, and they all had a blast! It's super nice having 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Plenty of space for people to spread out and hang out together. We visited in August, and the pond had 2 canoes and 1 paddle boat. We brought our own life jackets and we all fished and went out on the boats every day. There are water snakes, so just watch for those. We went into town and got coffee and ice cream and found Sunset Park, which was a hit! They had 2 playgrounds and a disc golf course. Communication was good and friendly, but we didn't have instructions upon check-in. Thankfully, the building owner had left the doors unlocked for us when we arrived because it was hard getting ahold of them. Phone number was not connected. Overall, had a wonderful, memorable experience and would recommend to anyone! Thank you thank you!
