Hotel Spalentor

"Hotel Spalentor was a wonderful property. It is perfectly located to get anywhere in the old city easily. There are buses and trams right across the street if you want to travel farther. The staff suggested good restaurants and were happy to call and make reservations for us. Free WIFI, clean rooms, and great facilities."
GAIA Hotel Basel - the sustainable hotel

"We recently spent 9 days traveling through The Netherlands, France and Switzerland and stayed in 4 hotels. The Gaia was the best by far and if we ever return to Basel we would absolutely choose The Gaia again. I am sorry that I cannot remember the name of the man who seemed to always be at the front desk when we needed something. He was so kind, professional and helpful. He provided excellent recommendations for restaurants, offered suggestions for what to do in the city, checked for our train platform when we left, and just went above and beyond without being intrusive. The property was outstanding. We had a room with a king bed and sitting area which was spotless, beautiful, comfortable, cool and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and staff delivered coffee orders to the table. The location is right across from the train station which we preferred for easy access to trains and turned out to be very convenient for walking the old city as well. Well done!"

"Hotel was clean, close to shops and restaurants, and the staff was very helpful, especially Alex. The breakfast had a great selection of cold items and even scrambled eggs for our friend. We’re happy to be returning for another two nights prior to our Viking Cruise."

"Location was walkable to and from train station. We didn't spend much time in the area, was a stop over for us, but looked like the property was in a good location for access to city sights and restaurant options. Check in and out were easy using the instructions provided by the host."
