"We had a lovely stay overall, with excellent staff at reception , a beautiful hotel, immaculate grounds and fantastic amenities. Everything provided was wonderful, and the quality of the food was outstanding, both at breakfast and in the restaurant in the evening. Unfortunately, the restaurant service really let the experience down. The waitresses were incredibly slow when taking orders and bringing food to the table, which became increasingly frustrating. Our dinner reservation was at 6.45 pm, yet we didn’t leave until after 9.15 pm, having only had a main course and dessert. It was also extremely difficult to get the waitresses’ attention. There seemed to be very little awareness of guests trying to make eye contact, and on one occasion, when I had a query about my food, I had to wait a further 15 minutes before I could get anyone’s attention. What made this particularly frustrating was that, whenever I looked towards the entrance, there consistently seemed to be three members of staff standing together talking rather than attending to guests. The same lack of attentiveness was evident at breakfast. When we arrived, there was nobody available to greet or seat us, and we had to rely on the reception staff to come and seat us instead. It is such a shame because the hotel itself, the facilities, the products and, most importantly, the food are all excellent. However, the restaurant service was significantly below the standard you would expect from a hotel of this quality."
