Please remember you are staying in our home not a hotel. Please treat the house with respect. If any problems arise we will do our best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on-site 24/7.
Cell phone coverage can be unpredictable at times, but AT&T does have coverage at the house, and actually gets great LTE data service as well. Coverage in town is available for AT&T now but may not be for others, so plan accordingly if you were hoping to call back to the house because you forgot what you needed at the store. Verizon coverage has improved based on reports from guests.
Wi-Fi is available for use with high speed fiber connectivity (500 down/500 up).
Our property is on a town maintained dirt road and our driveway is a mix of dirt and stone. While the town makes every effort to keep it plowed sudden snow is common and can quickly cover the road, making them slippery. We also work to keep the driveway cleared but can be limited in larger snow falls as it may require a front-loader which can't zip around town. Guests are responsible for arriving in a winter-appropriate vehicle (AWD/4WD recommended with suitable tires) and for assessing road and driveway conditions upon arrival. The driveway is steep and may be difficult or inaccessible during certain conditions, even when plowed. No refunds will be issued due to weather, road conditions, or a vehicle’s inability to access the driveway.
Booking Requirements: - Acknowledgement of house rules - Rental agreement from booking software - List of guests - Copy of renter's photo ID
We have security cameras on the property, full details on why and what we can see on our website. They record 24/7 and can be viewed remotely. We wish we didn't have to have them but guest behavior has necessitated them. We have had items stolen, damaged, broken into, taken apart and more. The is one in our locked shed, it is a separate structure, it isn't for guests. There are none inside beyond what has been listed. Outside we need to monitor driveway conditions, group arrivals, propane tank, septic tank, A/C condenser, garbage totes, wood pile, areas leading to entry doors, shed access. We cannot see into the house from any camera. We do not have audio monitoring devices. If you have any concerns we can share an image from any camera upon request, they all have timestamps.

ski weekend
It was perfect for what we wanted which was a place to sleep that was close to gore mountain....the location was great but the house was outdated and the beds were not comfortable.
We found the house very charming and perfectly located … but the air was really really dry, the heating/boiling system make a lot of noises specially at night. The house is not sound proof at all you can hear every baby steps and the flushing toilets too..
Also, about the dog policy, the description says pets allowed but dog needs to be crated and there is big fee. The description did not mention all the rules, we clearly had a misunderstanding about the dog policy, specifically when we found a lot of dog hair on the carpet upstair.

Great house, very clean, 2 Issues with misleading property information
The house is gorgeous, clean, well stocked w/ everything you need. Many older criticisms from reviews have been addressed/upgraded. The issues we had relate to this place being listed as pet friendly and there is a lack of communication on the driveway being a problem for many vehicles. As far as pet friendly, this house has strict rules that you only find out about after booking & payment. Dogs having to be crated when you are out is not something I would expect in a pet friendly rental (with no exceptions, even with our 13lb, hypo allergenic toy poodle). The driveway was a huge issue and was not in any condition for a vehicle to safely travel to the house. Check in is late at 5pm, and in the winter that is already dark. I asked Chris just before 4pm if we could get into the house earlier. He was very responsive and let us know we could. He said the driveway was plowed earlier in the day and we should use a low gear and maintain speed around the bend. 4WD Low in our Jeep and rounding the bend, wheels start spinning on the ice, and then we slid backwards a good 25 feet completely out of control until Thankfully the snow bank stopped us from sliding off the 20 foot or more drop down to the road below. It was terrifying!
Left Jeep in the snow bank, called Chris and he tells me all the other cars that have problems just call Tiple A. My Initial reaction is what do you mean ALL the other cars that have problems and why wasn’t I warned that some cars have problems in the driveway. But still I asked for a tow truck company and he did call the plow company that maintains the driveway. Someone came right away. That guy tells us this isn’t the worst he has seen here and a lot of cars have trouble and it’s always at the bend. He said he would come back to move the car in daylight. The road behind the Jeep was sanded in the morning, and the guy came back and moved the car for us. We were relieved to have the Jeep safely parked at the bottom of the road for the rest of our trip, as neither of us were willing to attempt that driveway again. I understand it’s winter and it’s the Adirondacks, and that it snowed on our arrival day, but the lack of communication on a known issue was infuriating. Renters unfamiliar with the property should know that if not freshly sanded, park at the base of the driveway. We lost the entire morning and part of the afternoon on our already purchased lift tickets for Gore waiting for the Jeep to be moved from the snow bank.
We had another wonderful stay at the Chalet. Sitting by the fire after a day of skiing was perfect! Hiking the wooded grounds is something our family really enjoyed! Can't wait for next year!
This is our second stay!! Wood log fireplace and kitchen are awesome! The view of he pond is great!! And the fall leaves are gorgeous. Lots of puzzles and games and peaceful and quiet. It was so nice and dark you can see the stars. Perfect location and feel.
On first entrance, door code didn't work, Chris was prompt to fix. The pillows for bunkbed are flat, they do not elevate your head. The chairs around the dining table do not fit adults and were uncomfortable to puzzle in for long periods, adapted by using couch pillows for prolonged intervals.
Had an incident which we needed a band aid, and accidentally accessed an area that had a key in a lock looking for it. Chris contacted us and we explained. Would appreciated check-in emails, markings or documentation to provide more clarity on areas that are not supposed to be accessed. Location accessed was left accessible.
Overall it was a memorable and wonderful experience. We would love to return again in the future.
After a full days of the slopes of Gore it was great to come back to this magical chateau. Awesome views, has what you need and convenient. Great internet service, the only down side which may not be viewed that way by all is that there is no monitor for 'TV'. I brought a 27" monitor and a laptop to stream netflix and it was great. Over all I'd love to go back and give it a 9 out of 10. If I had my whole family I probably wouldn't need netflix.
Our stay in the woods of North creek was just what we needed. The views from the windows were beautiful and the house was clean, roomy, and well stocked. We appreciated the clean and newly renovated bathrooms.
We could stay only two nights but will definitely rent again. Our party was small, but this lodge accommodates a lot of people. Kitchen had everything. Very clean and accommodating owner, too. We will recommend to friends.
We loved the space! We loved the view! We loved the fully equipped kitchen!
Some of the furniture like the downstairs futon was very uncomfortable as a bed so we moved to a bunk.
Some of the furniture is older, like we couldn't pull the leg rest out, a kitchen chair was missing a support. Able to run several game systems with tvs we brought at the same time and using the wifi no problem! Fantastic place! We came right in the middle of fall and the leaves were gorgeous. Easy to get to trails in area too!
We had a very nice stay at the property while taking in the wonderful fall foliage in the Adirondacks. The cabin was very clean and in good repair upon our check-in (some light wear-and-tear is evident, but nothing extreme or that diminished from our stay). We found the cabin to be quite spacious for our party of five, with plenty of room to spread out; but we also enjoyed each others company in the large main living area while gathered around the fireplace. We found the cabin location to be very central to various destinations in the Adirondacks that we wanted to explore, so it made for a good base for jumping off. The atmosphere around the cabin was relaxed; we loved the short walk down the driveway to Austin Pond in the mornings and evenings, very peaceful (not much traffic noise to speak of). The only thing I would point out is that access to the loft is somewhat difficult, requiring a tenuous climb over a railing; not a problem for the young and spry but perhaps a bit more so for other demographics, although this didn't represent a problem for us during our stay.

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Disappointed.
Tired and in need of proper maintenance and cleaning....probably not vacuumed (or poorly done) prior to our stay. Counters and cabinets all 'sticky' to the touch and had to be cleaned upon arrival. No evidence of any type of covid level extra cleaning measures. No basic paper products on hand....one partial roll of paper towels in kitchen, partial roll of t.p. only in holder in each bath so had to buy our own after arrival. Windows haven't been cleaned in years (?). Booked because it was pet friendly (two old dogs came along)....was told by owner on arrival, however, that pets were not to be left alone inside or allowed on the furniture. No problem with ours but this info would have been considered when booking if told beforehand. Clearly the tenant(?) prior to our arrival had let a large dog roam freely. Broken door handles, inoperable doors, screens falling off sliders, etc. Traffic noise from Rte. 28 across the pond was constant from 5 a.m. through 11 p.m. every day....so much for the quiet weekend in the woods when trucks are engine braking all day and into the night! Booked Wednesday-Sunday, left Saturday morning...had enough! For a group of rowdy young ski buddies in January, probably OK. For a quiet weekend in the woods in the Fall, I would suggest looking elsewhere. I hope the photographer was well paid, the pictures don't tell the whole tale here.
Perfect place for a group or couple looking to explore the Adirondacks or to ski! Went with a group of guys to turkey hunt. Super clean, private and comfy! I would definitely recommend!!
Our family traveled from Ohio for skiing on the New Year's Holiday. The area had a serious ice storm just before our arrival. Chris reached out to us to help us navigate the bad weather to make sure we had an awesome trip. With his help and a break in the weather, we had an awesome trip. The house met all of our needs including its close proximity to the ski hill and coziness to relax with a home cooked meal and warm fire at the end of a great day of skiing.
Spacious for our family of 4 (16 and 12 year old children) lots of places to lounge by the fire and read books. So close to Gore Mountain that we were able to start early, snowboard til lunch, come home for lunch, take a short nap, and head back for couple more hours. Communication with owner was excellent and he responded quickly. It's obvious that they continue to improve the ammenitites making it a comfortable place to stay. Will definitely stay again next time we visit the area.
