"The room was set up like a little studio apartment with a space for me to do some work on my laptop. The bed was comfortable and I slept extremely good on it. It was quiet all night. The shower was great and I wish I had that water pressure at home! I got dinner from the cafe downstairs and the bacon cheeseburger and fries were excellent. I didn’t have breakfast but it looked great when I grabbed some OJ. I only stayed 1 night while traveling for work and I will definitely stay here next time."

"The building is showing its age in places, like the elevator, but the room was clean and comfortable and well appointed. My first assigned room's door wouldn't work and it looked like someone had taken a crow bar to it. My second room was good, but was on the freeway side of the building and was kind of noisy. The breakfast was better than the pricepoint usually provides. Overall an excellent value for the money. Would stay there again but would request a room on the other side of the building."

The hotel itself is absolutely stunning—beautifully restored, elegant, full of character, and one of the most charming places I’ve ever stayed. What truly made this an unforgettable experience, though, was the incredible staff. Every single person we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A special shoutout to the front desk team for their warm hospitality and professionalism—they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The restaurant staff also deserves recognition. Whether it was brunch or dinner, the service was exceptional. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making every meal a great experience. It’s rare to find a place where both the property and the people are equally outstanding. Thank you to everyone at the National Exchange Hotel for making our visit so memorable. I can’t wait to come back and will recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Nevada City!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and this beautifully upgraded "retro" hotel. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet...including a quiet air conditioner. We were in a deluxe king room with a pretty view of a landscaped hill side and pool. We walked down the path to a good Thai restaurant. Ask at the desk about the mom 'n pop breakfast place around the corner on Bowman. I strongly recommend calling direct (530 885-8444) for best price and service."
