The house was wonderful. Great location. Close to dining and attractions. Cons: it has a loud wind draft that you can hear and feel all night long. It is a shared property with other guests on site.
We found this property to be very comfortable and homey. There is an incredible amount of space in this home, plus some luxurious bath tubs and an awesome shower. The antiques were lovingly reclaimed and displayed. We enjoyed our time and would book again if in the area.
From the moment we walked into the house we had picked the right spot for our family to stay. It is a great house with a mixture of upgrades along with fun antiques. There’s everything you need in the kitchen, for basic cooking. Even with our misfortune of no hot water due to the really cold weather, the host made sure to take care of us. I would definitely book this property again.
My boyfriend & I absolutely loved this place. The home has been refurbished to the stunning look it has now. We actually saw a you tube video when it was about to fall in on itself. You can go to Channel 6 News The Hammond Farmhouse and see some before & after pictures of the home.. or you can go to the you tube channel called A View from the Middle & see the house in disarray. Only then, can you appreciate the beaty from with in. We are looking forward to going back next year. I do believe that it would be cool to have a binder with the before and after photos and a log for people to sign to see where they are from.
When I opened the front door, I was blown away. The house had been decorated for Christmas. Walking around, the pictures don't do this beautiful house justice. There were so many touches of home. I especially love the tea and tea kettle. Over all a great stay. The only two downsides are, the widows in the upstairs of the house. You can hear the wind howling. Also, a fan in the master bedroom would have helped with the stillness and even drowned out the wind. Again, overall the stay was almost perfect. And I will know to bring bubble bath with me next time for those glorious tubs!
I stayed at this beautiful house for two nights and felt right at home. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom. The AC works great! Wonderful communication with the host. Would recommend.
Not what was described nor was it a safe place to stay
At first, I thought this was going to be a wonderful place to stay. The interior of the house is beautiful and very clean. There are a couple if things to note. There isn't a dishwasher in the kitchen. That doesn't bother me, but may be an issue for some. Also, all the bedrooms are upstairs, so if you hav problems navigating stairs, this will be a major issue. There are no sleep sofas. There are a total of 3 large bedrooms upstairs. There are two full bathrooms. One upstairs in the master bedroom and one downstairs next to the kitchen. So, if you are in one of the two guest bedrooms, you will have to either go through the master bedroom or go downstairs to access a bathroom. There is a constant howling wind, as well at constant traffic of car, swmi's and and trains day and night.
For the outside of the house, there is no privacy/security fence or gate to prevent ANYONE from walking or driving onto the property. A semi was broke down in fornt of the house for several hours. There were people coming and going all day long. We had no idea who these people were and why they were there. The host did no inform us this would be happening. This house sits within 40 yards of a MAJOR 4 lane highway. The train tracks run along side the 4 lane highway. There are also train tracks behind the house about 100 yards back. Beware, there are also storage building behind the house the host has turned into cabins. You will not see about 90% of this information in the pictures or description
Everything was wonderful! It is a beautiful, clean, and comfortable home. It was perfect for our family to spend time together while in town for an event. The owners were quick to communicate, helpful and very accommodating.
