Good stay with a few issues

Overall we really liked this property, but it needs a day with a handyman to bump it from 4 stars to 5. The main issue we had is that the front door lock did not consistently work, which left us waiting outside in the cold both nights that we stayed there hoping for the door lock to reset. The second night we ended up having to get the side door code from the property owner (they did respond immediately which I really appreciated!). There were a bunch of little issues which all added up—the kitchen sink faucet wasn’t tight to the sink so it was constantly moving around when we used the sink, the inside handle on the front door kept falling off (maybe related to the door lock issues?), and the banister up to the loft was not secured into the wall and fell out of the wall whenever the banister was touched. The washer was also full of wet towels and pillowcases when we arrived. The house itself was clean, comfortable, and spacious, and if it wasn’t for the door lock issue I would have just chalked up the other stuff to some overdue maintenance, but the door lock issue was pretty stressful and happened every time we tried to use the door. The homeowner told us in the initial instructions that we needed to be sure to pull the door lock a specific way when closing the door so that the auto lock didn’t bind, so I think this is likely a known issue. Overall, if these issues were fixed, i would stay at this property again since it was very nice otherwise.
